It's a well known fact that thousands of people die for every 1% rise in the unemployment rate. A lot of people are going to die either way. The question is, what kind of world are we going to leave for those who survive? Dr. Knut Wittkowski from Rockefeller University estimated that 15, 000 would die in the US before reaching herd immunity. With social distancing we're looking at multiples of 5 - 10, not to mention a devastated economy.

Social distancing hasn't worked in Australia, and now club, pubs, cinemas, cafes and the like are now closed down.
Up to a million jobs will be lost in a largely casual population. so this is one of the costs in ignoring the risks.
People with their head in the sand, or in denial have ignored the rules and so the next level of control has been set.
Remember it is what we do in response to this virus, that will determine it's outcome.

We were lock down for 2 months in Wuhan - We keep ourselves busy by playing video games online, exercise and dancing Tik Tok in-front of our neighbour buildings and it great to be outside once again our life can be normal again, stay safe and strong people around the world.

It's already too late and he's talking like it's too much of an inconvenience to ask people to stay inside. It's a mild inconvenience in comparison. Let's wait until the numbers triple and people are fully sick, makes perfect sense.

Thanks for the clarification with regards to herd immunity. It sounds like inevitably and hopefully immunity will raise up before a vaccine is produced but indeed, it does not make sense to allow for people to get infected with herd immunity in mind. This is not about survival of the fittest. This is about saving as many people as possible.
