I love how Tarantino often elevates the actors that worked with him. It really is a sign of respect. And if someone has doubts about De Niro, just watch Cape fear and you will see him become another person.

he really suprised me in taxi driver. up to that point id seen him in a couple comedies, couple mob movies. So the role of Travis was a total flip from those other characters and he really nailed it. I have been in Travis' shoes before many times. Never to the extent that he goes with guns but the isolation, failures with women, being close to the edge. It was incredible.

He exposes the true talent of many.
I'd never heard of Samuel L Jackson until I saw Pulp Fiction and in just that performance thought he was one of the greatest actors in the world.

De Niro allways gives 100% in his roles. Any character he portrays is within that frame of the mindset of that character. And as is his way, he is a true student of human behaviour. As an actor he stays humble and grounded, never thinks he is too good for this or that part. A job is a job that has to be done well, in a professional manner. As he is a true professional actor!!
