Krishna says in the Bhagavid-Gita that karma is linked to the three modes of nature (goodness, passion, and ignorance) because in the material world the self is riding along the stream of these modes and its actions are influenced by these modes so within these modes there is cause and effect.

Of the mode of passion Krishna says: "The mode of passion is born of unlimited desires and longings, O son of Kunti, (Arjuna) and because of this the embodied living entity is bound to material fruitive actions." What is derived from being influenced by this mode of passion? Krishna says. " From the mode of passion greed develops." also he says, " action done in the mode of passion results in misery."

Of the mode of goodness he says, " The manifestation of the mode of goodness can be experienced when all the gates of the body are illuminated by knowledge." (In other words, by practicing sacrifice and austerity a sense of freedom from lusty behavior is experienced.) and the result we derive from the mode of goodness is explained when he says, " The result of pious action is pure and is said to be in the mode of goodness " and also what he says of this mode is, " From the mode of goodness, real knowledge develops."

Of the mode of ignorance he says, " O son of Bharata, the mode of darkness, born of ignorance, is the delusion of all embodied beings. The results of this mode are madness, indolence and sleep, which bind the conditioned soul." (ignorance can be defined as being forgetful of our spiritual nature and that we are related to God and because of this forgetfulness we develop false perceptions of what the goal of life really is which is to revive our God consciousness) and from this forgetfulness Krishna says, " from the mode of ignorance develop foolishness, madness and illusion."

And if we don't become liberated from the bondage of these modes we have to go and receive body's on different planetary systems as Krishna explains when he says, " Those situated in the mode of goodness gradually go upward to the higher planets; those in the mode of passion live on the earthly planets; and those in the abominable mode of ignorance go down to the hellish worlds." and that is why Krishna defines karma as, " action pertaining to the development of material bodies is called karma."

It took advantage of my kindness, i am reluctant to show kindness to strangers now only because 2 people took advantage of it, robbed me of my kindness.
