I have a tough choice to make with this coyote swap...

While doing the coyote swap, should I do all of the rest of the projects I want to do also, or just get it running?

Caleb you are a smart man. It seems you were answering your own question. If I were in your position since the engine bay is empty if you can fit it in the time frame and budget I'd smooth the bay. Put the brakes and interior off for later. I personally wouldn't do much of anything to that interior as it is very clean, at least from what I can see on video and in pictures. Just be glad you live in Tennessee and not in California. That swap is more complicated to do legally here. If you do choose to just get the swap done and save everything for later at least the swap is done and the engine can come out fairly easy to smooth the bay. #foxcastnation

get it running, enjoy coyote power, as you drive, share, show, your mind will evolve to EXACTLY how you want it.

I know that feeling the engines out and why not tackle other build goals at the same time. Boils down to dollars and cents. However, just doing the Coyote swap is a major project. Engine bay would make sense is all I would say...Heck i want to see the car running lol

Project cars are truly never finished, there is always something that you want to do, or have the opportunity to do as money comes in. In my humble opinion get the car running, tuned, and drive it, tackle other parts of the project at the end of next season, especially brakes and interior. I guess it really depends on the engine bay smoothing, do you want it done because you like the look, or is it because everyone else is doing it? Your bay is still clean despite the Swiss cheese from the factory, which I don't mind all apart of the Fox personality.

If the fund's are available go full bore. But if that's not the case then just do the engine bay. All other stuff can be done in between events.

I completely understand your dilemma. I've got the same tough decision to make, extend the build and get her all done at once which means saving more money. But if I throw the coyote in now and just send it, it'll cause me more work in the long run because it'll be coming back apart for more mods later lol. Now that winters hit in CT and the car will be down until at least April, my mod list just keeps getting bigger. I see no end to the coyote swap money pit lol.

Hey bro I totally understand where you're coming from. If it was me I'd skip the interior and wheels and tires for now only because of budget concerns. Plus you need the car. It looks like it could be spring before you get her back just doing the swap. If you had unlimited time and no budget concerns I'd go for it all. I know it's a tough call but you'll get there.👍

FWIW, I would say minimize any extra work for 2 reasons. 1. Budget like you already said. 2. It would make for good video content later on as the channel grows, and perhaps even the channel could pay for some of it in the future. Either way though, I support you.

Interior and brakes can do later. But while engine is out I would for sure do the engine bay.

One portion at a time. My car has been down for 4 years because I made decisions like that than I should have. Swap the motor, do the rest later.

I'd say do the engine bay.

Brakes, interior and other upgrades won't have your Fox down as long. Those particular upgrades can come after.

I'm sure mine sitting there in the process of being smoothed, isn't helping.

Oh, by the way, I am definitely watching! Lol

Brother please leave the tweed interior! I’ve noticed a trend of tmi seat etc. please keep OEM style interior. I’m on board for the coyote swap. But in my opinion changing the interior is getting away from the fox body which is what created fox cast. Just repaint the bay don’t even fill the holes drop the yote in and enjoy! Man most of us are budget limited so I say do it in phases and enjoy it. Just my 02 cents

If you extend the build, you also extend the down time. Id get it running first then build the rest as i go.

I think go all out on the engine bay and hold out on the brakes, interior etc.

Do it right once or do it again!

As you can see I've learned this the hard way and it's taken me 3 years of doing it wrong to learn that. Just don't go too far and make it undrivable. Remember, this car is supposed to embody the fun of the Fox, the drivability, the "Throw it in the hatch and lets go" road trip nature of owning one... That being said, don't make it a showcar, don't make it a SickFox where it's been 3 years and its barely left the garage... Keep it medium, keep it drivable, keep it fun.

Bro, you should do the engine bay while the motor out . You can do the other stuff little by little . That's the real world Remember you have a clean fox body, that looks dam good . You can take your car to different shows, and most people will be looking at your coyote swap, and how it looks in your car .

Honestly Caleb I would maybe just throw a fresh coat of paint on the bay and put her together. On my swap that’s what I’m doing. I’m building a previously 4cly notch though so I have to do a lot more then just the coyote ha. But I say just clean up engine bay and get her together. You driving this car to events is what makes foxcast. When cars are down for a long time it’s easy to get burnt out also.
