Souness only won trophies at Ibrox when they were paying unsustainable transfer fees and wages thanks to David Murray’s pal at the Bank of Scotland Gavin Masterson. Let Murray run up a £70M overdraft while he was liquidating other clubs for much less. That debt would never be repaid as Masterson allowing it to be bled into the cavernous debt of Murray’s other companies, many of which went bankrupt. Then they had the EBT years where they won trophies whilst employing footballers not paying tax on much of their wages. Amazingly never penalised by the SFA by eliminating the trophies won during that time. The last legitimate title they won before Sevco eventually won under Gerrard was in the 1970s.
