Mrs. Ortega is a life saver! I have been wanting to transition to medical coding for a while, but I didn't know how to or which program to take. There are so many online programs but I made the best decision of my life to take the 3 day CPC course with Medical Coding Academy the weekend of September 29, 2017. I DO NOT have a medical coding background, so this class was very challenging in a  good way. Mrs. Ortega's teaching style is amazing and it is designed for all types of students, including students who do not have any experience in medical coding. There is a lot of information to cover over the 3 days but it is all worth it. This course is like a medical coding boot camp...meaning you get a serious mental workout that will benefit you in the medical coding industry. Mrs.Ortega is so kind, she answers your questions and takes time with her students. She never takes breaks during the class! I don't understand how she doses it but all I can think of is she is an Angel sent to help her students pass the CPC...seriously! I finished the 3 day course on October 1, 2017 and took the CPC exam two weeks after the course on October 14, 2017 ... and I PASSED on the first try!!! Remember, I do not have a background in medical coding and Mrs. Ortega's teaching style along with the excellent organization of my coding books (thanks to Mrs. Ortega) gave me foundation I needed to pass the CPC exam. The CPC exam is not easy, but I passed because I decided to take this course over an online course. Honestly, I do not think I would have passed by taking an online course. Mrs. Ortega and her staff at Medical Coding Academy are a blessing to me and I am so grateful to them for their time and dedication to making the possible for me. I am taking the COC and  CPMA courses the weekend of November 25, 2017 and I can not wait to learn so much more about medical coding!

Several months ago I was feeling desperate thinking about my dead-end job and how on Earth could I set things in motion to have a career. I googled something along the lines of "good jobs without college degree" and medical coding was on that list and interested me. I continued to search and came across a YouTube video for Medical Coding Academy and ended up watching nearly all the vids in one day...! At that point I felt hopeful that I had stumbled across this but I still had a major reservation: could I really learn enough from a 3-day course as a complete coding novice?

Fast forward to today... I took the course a little less than a month ago (it's rigorous) and I took my CPC exam less than two weeks ago and because I was taught in such a logical and structured way I PASSED!

So, if anyone is compelled to start their journey towards becoming a medical coder YES I wholeheartedly recommend Medical Coding Academy. You will save time and money and have great odds at succeeding! Thank you Mrs. Ortega for sacrificing your time to give us this opportunity 🙏

I highly recommend taking MCA's medical coding courses. I was looking for a change in career and felt that medical coding would be a great fit for my personality and work-style. I watched many of Mrs. Ortega's videos and decided to take the leap and sign up for the CPC course. The course is rigorous but worth it. Mrs. Ortega cuts to the chase and drills you with all the information you need to successfully pass the exam. I took her course this past June and then sat for the exam two weeks later and passed! Thank you so much Mrs. Ortega for sharing your wisdom and positive energy. I look forward to completing a few more courses with you later this year!

A note on this video:
I sat for the AAPC CPC exam and Mrs. Ortega's description is right on point. Eat an energy packed breakfast but don't bring food to the exam. You won't have time to eat and it's just a distraction. I do recommend bringing a small Gatorade or Vitamin Water with you for a little sugar and electrolyte boost, as the test is almost 6hrs long. I was so zoned-in during the exam until I realized that I was feeling a little dehydrated and was glad for extra energy. But as she said, don't drink too much or you'll have to waste time in the bathroom. Bring a watch. Bring a highlighter. And keep it moving! Good luck all!

I took Mrs. Ortega's Cpc course 2 weeks ago and today I got my results I passed my exam. If you are going to take course there is a lot of pre work to be done and homework as well. This course is exactly as she has said in previous videos short term pain for long term gain. By the time you leave the class you have so much knowledge
On coding. Be prepared to study and work hard it is well worth it in the end! Thanks Mrs Ortega for everything 😀😃🤗

In this video we see a comparison of the two coding societies. Here you will find a down to earth approach showcasing AAPC and AHIMA. A great breakdown of what you can expect when you go to take your examination. While all that was said ism still valid and correct today there are a few points to consider; with COVID19, AAPC is now offering an online version that you can take at home. This has the advantage that the test in split into two parts of two hours and forty-five minutes each. You can take them over two different days, or you can take them on the same day. Now, unlike the paper version of this test it is one hundred dollars less, and you are allowed only one try instead of two however, with this school one is more than enough. Both certification society are generally treated with the same respect and acceptance.

I am.interested in attending your training courses for the CPC cert Exam. I 'd like to know what books are required. Is there any Coding books provided while attending your course or will I need to purchase my own? Also if I dont have the entire course $$$ up front; is there a payment plan?

Hi. Thank you for your video and advice. Can anyone tell me what would be a good choice to work from home/remotely, AHIMA CCA or AAPC CPC? I am homebound/restricted. Are there homebased openings and opportunities immediately after getting certified? Anyone please let me know, I would be grateful. I was a doctor physician many years ago in Asia and now live in California for over 10 years now by the way so any advice related to location would also be helpful. I could not pursue medical residency and missed that opportunity because I'm a very old graduate and I am pretty sure no residency program will accept me. I am middle aged and have long gaps in employment.
