Wow, thank you so much for this video! My faucet is only one year old and it started leaking at the base. I bought a brand new 1255 cartridge thinking that it is the problem. It's not. A plumber suggested I replace my faucet with a brand new one and pay him $200 to install. After watching your video, I put teflon tape around the nut and tightened it with a crescent wrench. No leak so far....fingers crossed.

2021 Dec - I am so happy I came across this video while at home depot looking for a replacement cartridge - coincidentally, home depot in canada doesn't sell these in store (could change in future). Anyhoo, I decided to try your suggestion and simply take off the handle and tighten the cartridge nut. Surprise surprise, my cartridge nut WAS indeed loose and there was water inside. Like another poster did, I took the nut and gave it a good three-four rounds of plumbers tape and tightened it securely with a wrench. Hoping this doesn't have to be done continuously. I'll check it frequently, and provide an update. Thank you for this video - I appreciate it.

That was exactly my problem too! Noticed weeks ago that handle suddenly has a lot of "slop" now I get why! Big thanks 😊

Thank you for sharing. Would a very slow drip be an indication that the cartridge is slowly failing? Would you also recommend a pass or two of plumber's tape around the threads (of the nut) to help enforce a stronger seal?

I have the same problem from this faucet, I am so afraid of over tightening the nut!
Plumbing tape seems the best solution, it lubes the thread and serves as a thread locker.
I am going to try the tape next time.
