Is Linux ready to embrace competitive gaming?

What I was able to achieve in this guide:
- Disable V-Sync system wide (Nvidia drivers)
- Run Apex Legends without any stutters (update DXVK cache file)
- Increase my 1% low FPS (versus windows, same hardware)
- Reduce input lag to competitive setting
- Enable mouse RAW input in game
- Disable mouse acceleration

Steam launch command lines for Apex Legends (no autoexec):
1/ No app.: -novid -high
2/ Mangohud only: mangohud MANGOHUD_CONFIG=position=middle-left %command% -novid -high
3/ Gamemode only: gamemoderun %command% -novid -high
4/ Gamemode + Mangohud: gamemoderun mangohud MANGOHUD_CONFIG=position=middle-left %command% -novid -high

Banger of a video. Was able to get almost everything you did working on Manjaro. I found the game near unplayable with V-Sync on. This is also the first I’ve heard of pointer acceleration. I’m new to Linux but not fps. I didn’t expect to get a tip that will improve my aim. Thank you.

Once linux gets enough attention, these kind of tweaks would be a godsend for everyone especially competitive players

Huge video! Thanks bro! I've made the switch to Apex Linux but one thing you missed in the Nvidia Config is the "PowerMizer" tab which is where you can enable "Prefer Maximum Performance" for the power settings!

Before you modify and do any thing to your system folks -just play a couple WHOLE games. For me, the stuttering stopped once the shaders cached, it was buttery smooth. I'm running pure arch w/an Nvidia 2080ti 515.65.

Ayo thanks a lot for this video, I personally love linux and currently dual boot for apex but this gave me a reason to finally ditch windows completely, great content!

regarding input lag I'd also recommend some AMD tweaks found on the arch wiki, but since you have Nvidia GPUs it's not important for you

The downloaded came with kde out of the box as default. Will try it out first and switch later. Linux question guys, xfce and lxde which one is lighter? I have a PC with smaller specs I want to be playing on to save power while game with solar and batteries but I get stuttering on Windows 10. Hope it improves performance on Linux. My other gaming PC consume more power.😊

hey airmax. I want to play apex on linux but even after downloading the shader cache the game still lags! Do you have any ideas on why this is happening? I have a ryzen 5 2600 and a gtx 1650 these specs run perfectly on windows.
