Repairing rotten fascia on a house

This video will show you how to remove a rotten fascia board and replace it with a maintenance free PVC board. I will also show you how to replace the soffit vent and the two sides of the fascia board. First you remove the old rotted boards trying to keep them intact as much as possible so that you can use them for measurements and templates. Once you remove the old boards and cut your replacement boards I like to pre paint the new boards before installing the new ones. It makes it much easier to paint the boards first and then touch them up later. The layout on your house may be different than the ones in this video but it's all the same principle. Just make sure that you replace the boards the same way they came off of the house. It also makes it much easier to take a pencil and mark the rafter tails on the soffit so that you know where to nail your fascia board. Using galvanized trim nails and a nail set to install your fascia board will give you a nice finished product that will not rust.
