As a seamless gutter installer I run into quite a bit of rotting wood. I figured making a video and showing how I replace fascia corners would be very helpful. As it is a common problem that can be taken care of by most people who are DIY capable. Thanks for watching the video, and I always enjoy feedback! #construction #gutterinstallation

Okay guys i hear you loud and clear. There is some things i could have done different. Aka used a muti tool to cut out the old boards. Probably would have avoided cutting the drip edge and would have been all around easier. The drip edge did get sealed well, and is not leaking. And i still believe this homeowner got a soild fascia repair. 👍but if you guys want to comment another thousand times about the drip edge go for it!! 😅

This is the most straightforward video I've seen on replacing a facia board so far. Thanks for the knowledge!

I'm not talking dripedge. I use a router and guide for the channel though. HUGE timesaver!!! Nice work brother

I do the work in a very similar fashion! Good work! One suggest, rather than measuring the opening, use the dryrotted piece as a template to cut the new material. If your original cut was slightly crooked, you can cut the new material at the same angle by using the removed piece as a template.

Nice video! Another similar method of removal I’ve used is to wedge a small piece of wood underneath the drip edge just enough where you can fit a sawzall blade underneath to complete the cut, placing them an inch or so on both ends of where you want to make your cut, and this will also allow you to fit a pry-bar underneath the drip edge to pry the fascia away from the nails coming down from the roof sheathing, then after simply remove the wedges and the drip edge looks pretty good, doesn’t leave a crease, maybe a slight blow of the hammer to make it nice and straight👍🏼

Big ups for actually fixing this first. So many people would just throw gutters back over this 🤮🤮🤮

Often times homes will have sub fascia so going by the nails on the board won't work for every situation. If it is fascia nailed into trusses I ALWAYS try to hit 3 trusses. It's also good to cut the board short and then cut it a second time to make sure you go straight down the center of the truss.

If the home has sub fascia I would recommend at least 4' of board.

Great tool to use is a multi-tool AKA oscillating tool 🙂

The way you are showing people how to cut the board is extremely spooky considering the majority are probably home owners 🤣

Nice video 🤙🏼🤙🏼

Nice job but you need a little battery powered router with a few sized pattern bits to do stuff like cutting that long channel, it would save you a ton of time! Still you did a good job with the tools at hand!

Have you tried CA Glue (Cyanoacrylate adhesives)to glue the outside corner together? It is made for wood, but also works on plastic. Apply the glue, set the wood, and apply the activator. I get three bottles at a time from Amazon.

Scary. You need a GoPro head mount. What do you do about that drip edge? Great video. Thanks for posting.

"Safety first", as he is up 25' on a ladder with one hand on the phone, the other on the circular saw. I'm gonna say that's actually safety last.

Hi Paul Ricalde- So, what do you do about the drip edge that's cut through at the edge? It's cut through in about four different places and pried up all around the edge. Thanks man!!

I would have taken row of shingles off and the drip edge. Now the drip edge is toast.
And it's a two person job not one

I am installing gutters on new hardie fascia. The house is warped and the fascia has some bends in it. when I try and secure the gutter to the fascia it causes the bottom of the gutter to twist upward. are there any tricks to installing on fascia that has bends/waves on it?

If you dont mind sharing what did you charge the homeowner for this? I am debating on doing it myself or having someone that knows what they are doing do it. I have like 4 spots that are in need of repair.
