Today we are looking at Windows 11 LTSC. This is a lite version of Windows 11 that comes without bloat, without system requirements, and comes directly from Microsoft. This is NOT a debloated copy of Windows 11. This version comes directly from Microsoft as a retail product.

Great video! One tip for Rufus: if you press ALT+E key while Rufus is running, it will activate a mode that creates a flash drive that will work in both UEFI and MBR modes. It will remain in that mode until you press ALT+ E again to disable this mode.

It is called iot which stands for "Internet of things" iot devices are typically lower hardware spec than desktops, this is why MS removed the hardware requirements from iot 11. In so doing MS unintentionally also made it installable on older PCs and that's why MS won't sell it to the public. ... Typical iot devices are security camera systems, networking devices, internet backbone devices, computer control of machinery, Kiosk devices and other Point of Service (POS) devices, etc.

One advantage of Windows LTSC is since it is not bloated it is actually easier to keep the system secured: less software, less bugs and security breach to worry about. No Copilot = no Copilot related problems. And that's most users want -security.

So, I checked with my normal MS supplier and the LTSC license is available from them but it is not a cheap one. List price is about $295.00. That is reflected in their pricing and I also checked with another supplier...similar pricing. So, pay more to get less...though we do want less. I suspect that the higher pricing reflects that they know that you won't be coming back to them for another OS in a year or two AND they have to supply you with security updates for 10-years.

Now if there was only a simple powershell activation cmd this would be perfect, even better if it activated other versions of Windows & Office as well and provided the download links so you don't have to go through any evaluation signup process.

I genuinely think Microsoft wants to make peoples lives miserable.

If you have to fight your OS vendor, you have the wrong OS vendor.

14:53: You DO NOT have to unplug your ethernet cable when installing Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC. On the screen for adding an account, click Sign in options, then select Domain join. You don't have to join a domain, but you can just put your name and password, and you're good to go. I don't know how many times I've heard this whole, "disconnect from the Internet" instruction when it's not needed at all.

12:50 the quickest why to do this, is to press SHFT-F10 and drop to the command prompt. Run DISKPART, then Select Disk 0, then Clean. That will nuke all partitions on the boot drive, and then exit out of command prompt to continue with the windows install.

Furthermore 13:30, you don't have to create a new partition at this point, the installer will do that for you. So just select "unallocated space" and click NEXT to let it install. The reason I do this is because the installer will create multiple partitions, and most people won't know which partition to select to install windows on too. You instinctively knew to use the largest partition (the 3rd one) but others won't know that, since you didn't explicitly state why you picked that partition in this video. So installing on an unallocated blank drive avoids that possible confusion.

I've recently learned about IoT LTCS from a comment below your other video and gave it a try. And it works surprisingly well and snappy on my pretty old system from 2012 with integrated Intel graphics. If you check all options in rufus, you don't even need an unattended file, you basically hit install, go for a walk and come to ready to use desktop.

You should have put the LTSC gotcha up front - not at the end. Put the bottom line up front- not at the end

Thank you @CyberCPU for another great video ... 18:28 cool wallpaper! LTSC can afford to fall asleep ... with only 5 or so apps installed, there's probably nothing running in the background, hogging the CPU =)

A similar product from years ago was WindowsFLP (Fundamentals for Legacy PCs), a Windows XP Pro install cut down to be able to run on Windows 98 level hardware in order to support corporate customers who wanted the improved security of the NT kernel but were still running Win9.x

You forgot one of the main complaints, all the spyware, like Recall.

Just FYI, it's 'IoT' (Internet of Things), not 'LoT'.

You should do a video about installing Windows 10 LTSC & IoT LTSC for those of us who have no interest in going to Windows 11

This works fantastic in a Linux Virtual Machine. I think I have found my easy way to run those few windows apps I still need! Thank you.
