Ate my first Chicago Hardy today. Never had a fresh fig before. Tasted like jam, very sweet. This is my first year. I grew 23 fig trees from cuttings. 8 are in the ground. Some I sold and I have 6 in pots. So far I kept about 12 varieties. The ones producing are Chicago, Olympian, ronde de Bordeaux, violette de Bordeaux, and lattarula. These cutting were started in March. I’m in West Chester PA.

when is the best time to plant a fig tree in the ground? Live in the northeast and want to put some in the ground for better crop I am thinking

Here in Texas it's nice and warm 10 months out of the year.Thats plenty of time for both cycles of growing periods.im very happy with my location.

Hi Ross- Doesn't above ground planting hurt winter survival? I have major concerns about this at least in my zone 7A/B. I can see planting high say zone 8 +

ross, what about the taste, size and split resistance of the in ground trees vs the potted trees? also how are you picking and eating these figs without taste test videos bro?

My trees had all most 100s of fruits but all of it now falling on ground. Can you please suggest why? And these are healthy trees. I have 5 trees. 3 Chicago Hardy and 2 Brown Turkey.

Unless you have unlimited space potentially how do you decide which plants to grow in ground?
I am working with a flower bed that will run the perimeter of my fence. When completed I hope to at least have a small selection for me that I find desirable.
But I also would love to spite more growth for cuttings.

I really wish I could grow my trees in ground but because my apartment will only let me grow them in containers that’s what I’m left with 🙁

Beloved, i have two fig trees that were 6ft tall and just 2 stalks on each. One of the stalk on one broke and then over time the plant died. I have one left with the 2 stalks and it is just the tree with the 2 stalks near the top and it has new growth but i am concerned about the rest of the tree without any branch or leaves. Let me know guys i dont want to loose the remaining tree. If you can imagine a long stalk with just 2 brach at the top thats how it is.

Inground trees are better than potted trees all day long! Taste, size quality and quantity. my ingrounds ripen earlier than my potted. Fuc the haters that are not open minded about ingrounds. That’s their problem. Blessings 🙏

Dangerous for them to be planted so close to a house. In my climate trees get huge if let on their own, and they DO damage structures especially when planted so close

My trees WILL NOT ripen this year. I have no idea why. They are 4 years old, over 6 feet tall, and they're loaded with figs. The fruits have not changed in near two months.

I love your channel I’ve seen most of them . I purchased 2 LSU BLACK any pointers I live in super duper hot Mississippi and I don’t have much shade also I have. Texas everbearing fig that’s what the nursery said the name it had 1 ripe fig it was so good tastes like strawberry honey jam even ate the skin it was thin. Thanks
