Oculus Quest Vs Rift S // Which One Should You Buy?

So I finally got my hands on an Oculus Quest. Thanks to this I can make a comparison for you guys out there wondering whether you should get the oculus quest or the oculus rift S. So in this video I show you the main differences between the two headsets and hopefully make the choice of which one to buy easier for you especially now with the Oculus Link being announced at Oculus Connect 6, this could make your decision even harder since with the Oculus link the Oculus Quest essentially becomes a Rift S so hopefully after this video you will be able to choose the perfect headset for you.

I’m in a good situation I’m getting Rift S for my pc and my older brother is getting a Quest since he doesn’t have a pc

I ordered a rift s and then started researching the quest. So fucking glad I did. Quickly cancelled my rift order and ordered the quest. The rift is absolutely redundant and its clear oculus don't care about it whatsoever. They are just waiting to discontinue it, I'm sure.

Thanks for the great video! I loved how you went into the detail about how glasses work in both the Quest and Rift S. Keep up the good work, your helping a lot of people.

You see a lot of still image comparisons around and "through the lens" comparisons. The screen door effect is something that is definitely pointed out a lot, but I've not seen anyone compare the smoothness of the motion with the two different panel types. Do you notice a difference? Also, have you noticed any reduction in battery life since first getting the quest and now?

I still have no clue. I'm terrible at choosing. They are so similar yet so different. my heads gonna explode trying to decide.

Its simple, If you have a decent PC then get a Rift S because a Quest will not play games like Stormlands as well as a rift S, the Rift S is less than ideal at 80hz(90hz is considered minimum) but the Quest is even worse at 72hz, Also do you really think a single USB 3.0 cable is going to be adequate compared to the cable on the Rift S.
If you dont have a PC or your PC is badly in need of an upgrade then you have no choice, the Quest is the best untethered headset on the market and much as I might deride the USB 3.0 cable, it is likely to work on a lower end machine, or at least give you time to upgrade your PC.
Dont get me wrong, I think the Oculus Quest is a huge stride forward and in a few generations will be the way to go, I can imagine buying your games online and downloading them to your PC(as we do now)or better still to your smartphone, and then loading the game you want to play in its entirety to your untethered headset without compression working at 90hz or even 120hz and with a gorgeous screen resolution. When we get there, I will be at the front of the Queue, in the meantime the best experience will be with a good headset tethered to a good computer(Valve index and Rift S are at the top of the pile at the moment) Unfortunately they are relatively expensive, although prices do seem to be coming down slowly.

very nice presentation and comparison. Though demanding gamers aiming to play demanding titles, should think twice before going for the quest, even if it will have the oculus link. For the rest, this is the very best and to the point video, regarding these two products, by far.

I played No Mans Sky and Skyrim VR from my SteamVR library on Oculus Quest with Link and AMD RX 580 and everything worked, so I don't feel the need to buy Rift S... and I can unplug the cable and go to friend and try my Quest with him.

Ignoring the ipd problem. Oculus rift quest is hands-down not good for PC! I use both the quest and rift s the rift s as has higher Hertz, higher PPI, it's less top-heavy and sometimes you have to rebuy the same games. Also I find the motion tracking more accurate on the rift s.

Ive ordered an oculus quest but i might trade it whith the rift s i lpve the hands and the design u warned a new sub

Honestly the only better things about the rift s is the non compression like how the quest needs to for link, the 5 cameras, and the 80 Hertz, (that will change in a few weeks)

Many reviews say that graphics of quest when connected to the pc looks like cv1. Rift s image is better. Even with higher resolution, quest has 2 subpixels per pixel and rift has 3. I would say that the image will always be better on rift s and also rift s is more comfortable. Quest is standalone and anso can do a good job when connected to the pc(if you spend a bit more buying a link cable). Both are amazing headsets.

Which one do you prefer because I am really stuck on which to get.

Great video, is the heavy front on the quest very uncomfortable or do you get used to it?

What a great comparison, I was pretty sure I will be ordering quest before this video but this just confirmed what I thought about the quest.
Also would you say buying 64GB quest is okay if I mostly plan on playing games over LINK not specific quest titles ? The 64GB version is 400€ and the 128GB one is 500€ so I would be saving 100€ if I go for the cheaper one.

8:00 for anyone with glasses, it's important to note that if your glasses touch the lenses even with the extra distance then it is almost always better to just remove that extra distance. the reason for this is that it is better to have your glasses pressed against the lenses and be stationary rather than colliding with the lenses periodically.

Honestly now that the Rift S is 349$ for Black Friday/Cyber Monday and the fact that for a good/best experience with the Link you need an 80$ cable from Facebook that will be released next year, I think that the Rift S is the best choice for PCVR period. Also "comfortability ;)" is a huge deal for me since I like to use my headset maaany maany hours without taking it off.

Has there been any word on the finger-tracking that is being introduced to the quest coming to the Rift-S?
Also seeing as that the Quest is going to be using USB surely there is going to be more latency on the headset connected up to a PC compared to the Rift-S?
