The city has experienced unsustainable growth in the last 6 years; the road system isn’t built for the nearly 780, 000 people who live in the county, infrastructure isn’t keeping up, it’s a high desert the water available can’t sustain the population and we’ve been in a drought for years, affordable housing is a problem, hailstones will total your car and damage your home every year sometimes twice a season, sales tax is at least 8.25% it’s higher in some areas of the city, developers also charge a PIF fee at some shopping centers (that goes directly into their pocket, doesn’t benefit the city at all), insurance rates are extremely high here due to our damaging storms and aggressive driving behavior (you’ll see rollover crashes daily), homelessness is an enormous issue (you’ll find boobytraps on many of the bike and walking trails), crimes against women is high (rape, sexual assault), the cartel has a deep seated hold in the city, car theft rings, human trafficking (mind your children), the list goes on. The Springs was a wonderful place to live, but in the last 10 years it’s become a sesspool. If you love seeing trash everywhere, panhandlers in every median, aggressive drivers, high taxes, expensive cost of living, crowded hiking trails (and someone breaking into your car while on said hike), being violently attacked in parking lots or while hiking, constant road construction (not fixing roads, just curbs and water mains), pot holes so deep you can hide a bus, pedestrians and bikers being killed by drivers multiple times a day, shootings multiple times a day, then by all means move to The Springs. Consider yourselves warned though, it’s not the place being advertised, it used to be but those days are long gone.

Most of people I have known that moved here have all moved away because they say the winters suck

We are thinking about moving there due to health issues. I have Erythromelalgia and small fiber neuropathy. I can't handle extreme heat. I live in Texas right now. It gets over 104 degrees without the bad humidity. No winter and very short fall. I love LOVE winter and snow. How's the weather there? Like average summer and winter temps?

I've been doing so much research and job hunting (Iowa native right now who wants to move there) and I have already been calling it "The Springs" and I did not even know that was a native thing to do. Does that mean I'm destined to live there? (i think so!)
