We in Florida have gone thru this devastation EVERY year since Florida has been inhabited. Homeowner’s insurance has PAID for damaged property with my annual premium of $784, 4-5 years ago. Now it’s $3500./ yr. And living in Central Florida, way, way, way less damage than coastal property. So my premium is yearly going to pay for coastal damage. Coastal property should automatically be charged like homes in Flood Zone coverage. All coastal homes are located in Flood Zones….!

My nana’s and grandpa’s house in Englewood is wrecked. I’m flying down tomorrow to survey the damage and fix what I can.

I drove the streets on a weekly basis for more than seven years and I’ve never seen anything remotely close to this type of flooding.

I grew up in Florida in the 60, 70s and 80s. And during the time I spent there in St. Pete We didn't have any hurricanes ( not till hurricane Elena in 1985 ) we didn't have tornadoes. We had a couple sink holes but nothing like it does now. Gators? Yes, but they're easy to deal with.
