Revisiting My Haul | Did I Make Good Purchases?

OK So two things here:
1. We should never apologise for our looks but I do want to say sorry for this ongoing puffy face, I am feeling a little uncomfortable editing and filming at the moment because I don't look/feel like me.

2. Hope that rambling intro got things across okay. I get lots of comments and questions about sustainability in fashion which I always want to address but this always comes from a job that allows me access to such an excessive amount of clothes, so I wanted to make it clear I am aware of this and making baby steps to discussing this more eloquently is the best I can do.

ANYWAY hope you enjoy! Links are here;

I absolutely love this ! This is a genius idea, trust Lizzy to put a spin on something as old and redone as a haul video !! Amazing !

LOVE this video concept so much! Just some casual feedback: don't feel the need to force yourself to change up your wardrobe and wear different things for us. I REALLY like your classic style and I think you stand out as a blogger who has more of a capsule-esque wardrobe because it's easier for us to kind of follow and be inspired by than bloggers who just keep buying really crazy unique things that they only wear once. You are constantly inspiring us just by being yourself. Love you! All the best

I really like the idea for these post-haul reviews. It really helps to put your hauls into perspective for your viewers and it sounds like for yourself as well. I think maybe you kind of answered it a bit through this video, but have you found that your relationship with clothing has changed due to your profession? What are your thoughts on this? "Fashion content creators" (I don't mean any offence by the quotations, just not sure what you'd prefer to be called!) go through clothing so much faster than a regular consumer because it's now become their job to constantly show new items to their viewers and satisfy their obligation to brands they are working with. How do you balance being a consumer and creator in fashion? Do you find yourself buying things because they would be great for a photo but maybe not great in your wardrobe/ everyday life? Sorry for the long comment, your musings got me thinking too!

I love the concept of this video ! I feel like it could have been better if you had shown things you haven't worn in ages and tried to make outfits you could wear right now out of them

Love this video! Don’t apologise about the rambling, it didn’t come across as rambling to me. I love hearing your reasoning, I think it’s important to talk about our cycles of consumption and how we trick ourselves into justifying certain items. It’s so refreshing to see someone talk about what did or didn’t work out and why. The ‘feeling like a knobhead’ part made me laugh I don’t think you do look like one but I can see where you’re coming from 😂 xx

I loved this retrospective. Almost every item brought up my own thoughts when I saw them originally. Again Lizzy you are courageous and thoughtful. Thanks for sharing.

Clothes are your job! Your fashion consumption will always be less sustainable than that of the average conscious consumer and that’s ok!! That doesn’t mean that I as a viewer have to consume fashion in the same way. Obviously by talking about sustainable fashion consumption (which is so important!) you are making yourself vulnerable to criticism. However, you (and your viewers) shouldn’t compare your shopping habits to the habits of the average conscious consumer. That wouldn’t be fair. By talking about sustainable fashion (yey for paying lip service honestly!!!) and consuming less than your average fashion blogger you are already doing really really well!

I Def love how your channel is about style not stuff. Love that it's about your style expression not a shopping addiction :p

Such a great idea! The Celine earrings are so beautiful! Love that you are trying to be more sustainable, hope other influencers will as well. Anyway my golden rules are to Never ever buy something that is uncomfortable/painful just for the look and in general never buy stuff you're not 100%percent sure of. Xxxx

Love this format. So different from what others are doing and really interesting because it’s much more realistic. I had a massive wardrobe clearout at the weekend after going down a couple of dress sizes and was absolutely appalled with the amount of clothes I’ve either never worn or worn once. Such a waste of money!

Your eyes look a lot better, I hope they will get better soon. I enjoyed this video, it is nice to see what has been worn and why you liked some of your purchases better than others. I have been going thru my old clothes and getting rid of the items I no longer wear. I still feel like I could declutter more but then I would end up having an extreme minimal wardrobe, which is not useful when you live in Norway.

I love this video because I have that shopping habit too where I buy it, idealizing the perfect outfit with it, impulse buying it, but never wearing it as it just doesn't fit in my wardrobe at all/they're just too special occasion to wear regularly! Love the insight you have and I actually enjoy the rambling, very humanizing rather than strict format haha

Absolutely LOVE this and totally agree that's it's such a great way to make you aware of how much use you get from what's new in your wardrobe. Fabulous idea, thank you for sharing!!

Lizzy, please don't let something as small as a little puffiness bother you. I promise it doesn't bother me. If anything, it's endearing that you've shown us an "imperfection" (for lack of a better word). I mean, it's why we like youtube. It's fashion in the context of real life.

you should try the 10x10 challenge! it's where you pick 10 items and then where those same items over 10 days mixed and matched - it's honestly really fun!!

I agree. Don't apologize for your puffy eyes. We are all allowed to be human and "flawed." I enjoy your channel so much!

This was great, you loveable lady. It brought to mind a couple of ideas:
- maybe don't do the hauls and just do the review afterwards, featuring you wearing the items as you would have done in a try-on haul. I can imagine people loving it because it's helpful in a similar way to the Testing Basics series;
- aim for every item you buy to be worn a set number of times - it really makes you shop for versatile items you actually love, because you have to feel sure you can make good use of something before you buy. Someone interviewed on Camille Charriere's podcast (I think) said you should aim for everything to be worn 30 times, MINIMUM! That might be really difficult for you considering the way your job makes you feel the desire to shop a lot, but if you could manage it or even just encourage other people to do it, you'd be an absolute GEM!

I love that you're thinking about this stuff. Because I have to ability to "follow" you who use Youtube more that I can most fashion bloggers, I feel I have more knowledge of the amount of clothing you buy. And I feel really sad when I have to unfollow some bloggers who I still love personality-wise, just because the thoughtless wear-it-once consumption I see is so uncomfortable/upsetting to watch and support. So the fact that you're putting effort into becoming more aware of your consumption, and sharing that with us, is SO appreciated!
