This is absolutely excellent. Most people only go to the Internet when they login. Libraries, Schools and even businesses will love this. I will be one of the first people signing up!

It comes with a web browser, instant messaging, 2 USB ports for usb storage, and a 16gig internal drive!!!

I had a laptop like that too. Over a decade ago.

The chromebook has so few features, they're advertising access to their own web store as a feature!

I got this because I needed something small and simple to take to class and home when I visit. I still have my main Dell laptop, but I don't really use it for anything other than games and printing probably. I have no other purpose for laptops other than internet and documents. Its lightweight and SILENT that's what I love. Imagine being that person in class with the laptop that sounds like an airport! Great for taking notes and typing papers. If you need a complex laptop this isn't it.

@theALNation They technically are already on it. Chrome OS is linux based and Valve has been working on a linux cleint for Steam.

This Chromebook is a media consumption device like a tablet, but without a touchscreen. It's mainly for browsing the web, checking your email, and videos IMO.

@TheBm1999 you dont need any of them. theres no desktop to minimize to, ( so therefor you
can't restore it, and the close buttons are on the tabs

@kurniasan No. Chromebook is the name for a computer that runs Chrome OS.

@Slychiller
No, but you can use the web to make documents (Google Docs), video/chat (Google Talk), and install games from the webstore. Obviously I doubt it could do proper PC games such as CoD, but that's because it's lightweight.

@sunjay003 It has built in wi-fi and 3G, meaning even if you aren't in a hotspot you'll still have internet, just like a mobile phone, so it's incredibly unlikely that you won't have internet. Even if that DOES happen somehow, many of the apps are specifically designed to run with no internet if you need them to.

@prozac88 actually you can use it to play WoW, you just need to have another computer or a server, there are web apps out there that are designed for playing full PC games through the browser, using remote control basically.

So yes WoW, cant garuntee that you can use add-ons yet though.

Just like paper and pencil will never go away as an organizer, a standard computer will never replace something like this (unless the paper pencil are done away with by May 13, 2087)

@jim0watkins ....it makes complete sense. if you store all your data on one system and some gains access to that single system, they also gain access to all the data on the system. it's the whole idea of centralized vs dispersed data storage.

@kurniasan Chrome OS runs on the Chromebook. The Chromebook is the physical 'computer'.

@ThePokeworldest Yes you can save files on your SSD, and their are plenty of paint apps you can use. Some are very powerful, Just let the web catch up for us to have something advanced like Photoshop.

Actually, your documents are more secure on google and others cloud servers, then they are on your computer. Vulnerabilities in Microsoft or Apple's OS can allow people to remote access your computer, especially if you don't update often. You can also be tricked into downloading malware. But google's servers (where your data gets hosted) has a whole team of people checking and fixing problems before the bad guys can exploit them, and constantly updating whatever software they need to.

@HighPoweredLasers How do they sneak stuff on your computer and why did you suggest firefox ? biased comment.

@FViverosFilms, if you're planning on doing that, you shouldn't get a Chromebook. The device is for people who use their computer just for the web anyway. If you often use 2d/3d graphical applications or game a lot, you shouldn't get a Chromebook as your main system.

If you're someone who just wants to check his e-mail, updates his social networks, create and share documents, watch videos, etc., then get a Chromebook.

@tristd11 it doesn't it "sand boxes" (keeps all processes running separately with no interaction) that way if one tab is infected it can't spread to another tab because it can't communicate with another tab.
