On January 8, 2013, at midnight, the music video for "Where Are We Now?" was released without fanfare, and I remember waking up the next day to the headlines and my incredible excitement, especially since I had believed all of the rumours about his ill health and retirement. In fact, I googled "Is DB dead?" a few weeks before the song's release. The song's emotive, introspective tone has always made me feel deeply sad and nostalgic, as it reminds me of the transience of life and the unstoppable march of time. Its poignancy has only grown with the passing of the years, as I try to understand where the last ten years have gone.

Knowing what he knew about his own health, David Bowie's reflections on his own mortality are almost unbearable to listen to, but they are also a testament to his incredible talent and dedication to his art.

David Bowie, your music and memory will live on in perpetuity, inspiring and moving people for generations to come.

When I first listened to this song, I was like "meh". Nothing special. Seems as if got distracted by the video. I listened to it again on the CD and loved it ever since. It has everything: sadness and hope, and it is so incredibly tender.

with all his blessings, bowie knew or found out that the next day was the biggest gift he could give to himself, unapologetically, was a blank canvas, purity, glittering with hope but tremendously fragile. don't blow it. the fact that you are here means the victory has already been won. that is truth. the majesty of ascendency because of the desire to live while holding onto faith. what a beautiful lesson to leave as he dealt with his reality.

I was 14 when i heard david in 1971 and i immediately loved his voice and music. It's been 50 years and he's always in my heart. You're the star that shines the most.

Just a man walking around Berlin. So simple, but so good.

I'm 14 years old girl from Thailand. My dad usually tells me to listen to Bowie's songs cause he's his big fan since he was young. And now I'm just keep playing this song on and on. His generation's music is so much better than mines. ♥

There's a sense of fragility and vulnerability in this song which is very endearing. Classic Bowie. I feel like Bowie's speaking directly to me at the part where he sings "As long as there's me, as long as there's you" so this song helps me when I feel down about Bowie's passing.

Had to get the train
From Potsdamer Platz
You never knew that
That I could do that
Just walking the dead
Sitting in the Dschungel
On Nürnberger Straße
A man lost in time
Near KaDeWe
Just walking the dead
Where are we now?
Where are we now?
The moment you know
You know
You know
Twenty thousand people
Cross Böse Brücke
Fingers are crossed
Just in case
Walking the dead
Where are we now?
Where are we now?
The moment you know
You know
You…

David BOWIE, even for those who don' t like the man and music - FANTASTIC -, what a master and genius of sounds - with ENO, FRIPP, EARL SLICK, MIKE GARSON, so many others...-, he is like a phoenix, always trying to reevent himself, and also a very big fan of others bands or musicians - most of the time at a level so inferior as him...- How many bands where inspired in the whole POP MUSIC by DAVID ROBERT JONES, the man who came on earth to transform pop music in pur Art, I love the Berlin period
