Thanks for this, Tom. I went with the Shogun because I wanted a CALIBRATABLE  7" monitor, so I could tell when my WB was correct and the colors were right. A good, color-accurate 7" monitor is over $1200 just by itself (and it's only 720p), but when you add the 1080p screen, 4k input, 4k recording, and now not just ProRes plus DNxHR formats, and 10bit 4:2:2 from my GH4, a full audio recorder (no more Zoom H4n to add in to the mix!), it wasn't a hard leap up to $2k - ok, it was hard, but makes me smile every time I use it... Atomos also came out with a VERY nice sunshade for it that works well. It should have been included, but still, it's well-designed. As far as the fragility - it's light, true.. glad for that (my XF300 is already a beast! Not bad on the GH4 with a cage). I'm sure if I dropped my Marshall 5" (poor color, too small), it would crack as well. Battery life? A couple of 975-sized Sony-type batteries last a LONG TIME, even with recording. The big thing for me, though, was the color-accurate 1080p display. Just wow...

Why did you call the Lilliput an Ikan for the whole video? I bought a lilliput months ago, haven't had a chance to test it yet :( I'm getting a BMPCC soon though so that will be awesome.

What do you think of the VS-2, I've heard some negative things about it's glossy screen and how troublesome it can be when filming outdoor in the day. If you also have suggestions on any other cheaper monitor that would work well that'll be great.

Hey Tom! I dont know maybe i dont understand im trying to connect the dslr (canon 80d) to the external monitor but it ends up that the onboard lcd camera is not working, while i want it to work both the same time, thank you.

Hey Tom. What would you recommend to take a Mini HDMI from a 7Dmki/5Dmkiii to 2 HDMI outputs. 1x Ikan DH7 and a Zacuto EVF Flip for example? Is there a reliable passive HDMI splitter that could go from the 7D to both devices? Should it be powered for signal strength?
What are your thoughts?

I use a Lilliput 10.1" touch screen as well as a 7" Viltrox DC 70.  Both work just fine with the GH4 and A7S.  Tom do you know if the Atomos still display an image when the GH4 is in 4K Photo Mode??  The Lilliput & Viltrox go blank with a 4K Photo Mode notification and no image....  Can you please check?  Regards.

Surprised you didn't also look at the SmallHD AC7 monitors...only 720p so not nearly as good as a Shogun.
Puzzles me why they can't get inexpensive panels when you can get high res ones on smartphones so often now...sometimes I wish I could just pipe the HDMI output into a Galaxy Note4 or S6 because the displays are big enough :-(

My Aperture 7" burned out and smoke came out of it the first time i used the battery-case for it.. so it doesn't work now. :(
