My house burnt down a while back and I lost all my poles, I recently went and bought the Shakespear tiger 7 2 piece combo for like $18 at Walmart and I'm honestly impressed with it for such a low price. Look for quality folks not quantity.

Well I got the ugly stik catfish pole because I didn't know what I should get. After I took it out Catfishing I caught a 30 pound monster channel cat. My pole before that, which was some random pole, broke in three pieces when I caught onto a big catfish. So over all I am very happy with this ugly stik.

Also yesterday I was at my local fishing market and this guy asked me what pole he should get specifically for Catfishing, I told him to get the ugly stik catfish pole. He said, is it any good? I replied, dude I got one and it's more then good, it's amazing!

I have been fishing since I wad 6 years old and I am 24 years old now. This is the best pole I have ever owned and that's a fact.

On amazon the baitcaster rod is $50 and the spinning reel rod is $40. Where exactly are these rods for sale for $30?

I have three of these catfish rods and we have caught blue cats up to 80 pounds on them. Never a problem with any of them. I also have seven of the Tiger rods that I use in Florida saltwater fishing. My largest fish with one of those was a 10 foot Nurse shark.

The older Ugly Stik catfish rods were and are perfect. I’m 62 and still fish them and prefer them even over my $200 st Croix mojo cat rods which I have 6 of !!
Ps. To bad the new one are crap ! Thanx to Johnson Outdoors !

I agree, they are great, but I do also like the rippin lips as well.both are similar in price, but the rippin lips have better eyes, I own them both and love them both.

I have this same rod in my collection and I hauled in a 56lb blue and had 0 problems...One of the most underrated rods on the market that doesn’t get talked about to the high end anglers because it’s “cheaper”...Bang for your buck!

use one of these as a frog rod. gives a great hookset. the long butt can be annoying, but it's good for the leverage in a fight.

Heck with a Catfish, I won't spam ya here w/ a link (unless ya wanna see it), but I use them in Saltwater and have 100plus Sharks on them, let along Monster Redfish. The NEW Catfish rods shows that Shakespeare was actually listening to us. They are now way better! (striper rods too.)

There good rods but unless Walmart has em I can't hardly get em. I like the big water rods. And the tiger ones. But can't find em online. Least I can't. Even last night ugly stick website said out of stock. They might be outta stock for while. Idk. Can't hardly see how the manufacture could not have there rods in stock on there own website but guess idk much. Hey they might be discontinued idk.

Catfishing rods, If you only boat fish for cats and you have a good sonar it stands to reason that any sturdy rod like the 8' Ugly will do because like the Kayak Catfish(er) you can position the boat directly over the spot you want to fish or close to that spot. Well, what if you can't ot don't want to boat fish but bank fish? Can a 7'- 8' rod cast over 80 yards to get to that drop-off, ledge or hole situated just past the 8's casting range? No, 10, 11, 12, and 13 foot poles are the only way for bank fishermen to lob a bait into these spots. These poles start at about $65 to $109. Catfish Dave uses a 12' pole for lots of his bank fishingas well as others on YT. That is the only way you can get past the area heavily fished by 7' - 8' pole fishermen and catch big cats not spooked by these heavily fished areas. Does this require $300 - 600 rods, no. BassPro stocks 8, 10, 11, & 12' rods and combos as well as online sellers. Catfish Dave gets longer distances with casting reels which do not twist up the line with every cast. I hace yet to be able to use a spinning rod, regardless of how I load the spool, and not get twisted up line.
Hope this helps.
