Idk if anyone has said this or not yet but I use the same knot and a similar catfish rig you can use the pal knot on both ends if you set the leader first and then tie the main to the swivel last.

Your dog was barking and I thought it was mine. Kept yelling at it to shaddup! Meanwhile its right behind me in my office lookin at me like I'm nuts.

Hey bro...you CAN use a palomar knot on both ends...just tie your leader on first..the leader will pull through the knot on your main line ..

Nice, thank you for walking me through this. Never had anybody show me how to fish, trying to learn everything on my own so that I can teach my boys something that has meaning!

Great setup and nice and to the point video. One question, do you ever snell your hooks instead of the palomar knot. From what i understand for circle hooks in particular, if you snell them you will have a higher chance of your hook rolling the point into the fishes mouth.

When you throw that line out do you tighten it down or give it slack or leave reel open?🐟 Also do u eat carp, gar, and or turtles.

My favorite knot is the polymer too. If you tie your leader to the swivel first you can use a Polymer instead of a clinch knot. Then you can also tie the swivel to the main line using a polymer knot since it is easy to pull the leader line through while doing the polymer. Now you tie on your hook and your whole rig is tied with polymers. I love the polymer and can usually find a way to use on just about everything I need to tie on.

This is the exact same rig I use. Only I use a 10/0 hook and an 8oz in the Kansas and Missouri Rivers also I do clench knots for everything accept my hooks where I use a snell knot. Love that your getting this awesome rig out there though! Nice to see it being used by others!

Awesome video. It’s been a minute since I watched a rig tying tutorial. Thanks for the refresher. 👍🏾👍🏾

Everything looks great with your rig. I would suggest using a snell variant for a hook knot. A knot that is bound to the shank keeps the hook straight under load providing for more consistent hook ups as opposed to knots binding to the eye that allow the hook to hinge more freely.

Thanks for the tips. I am basically doing this but you cleared up something for me. Again thanks.

Great vid and good attention to detail about making sure to keep that palomar loop over the hook eye. Hands down my favorite river cat rig.
