That player definitely had a DM that abused mimics before

I’ve had fucking lamps and shit be mimics. This cleric was doing his job by keeping the party safe.

There's an old adage that goes
"It's not Paranoia if their really out to get you...."

DM taking notes: Validate...fear...Make mimics...hunt down...cleric.
*player quits the game*
DM:...on one hand, he is gone...On the other hand, you all associated with him so it`s reason enough for them to hunt you and for ME not to scrap 2 weeks of work. ROLL FOR INITIATIVE!

Bro why wouldn't they work around the fact that he always kicks door open, that is an hilarious trait to have

I was hoping he would have said something like "A door killed my father."

Technically it'd be a surprise attack if it was a door mimic

Every pull door comes with a strength check. Everyone in the tavern hears a loud thud against the door followed by the groan of a very fed up fighter.

My party's ranger does this. We're playing the witchlight campaign, and ever since we first visited Bavlorna's place, she's been kicking down doors. No reason to it exactly, it was her first campaign so no prior mimic incidents, she just loves kicking down doors. At this point we've accepted it and find it funny whenever she kicks down a door. Our whole party is weird like that lol

The one time I kicked a door open I was playing a Astral elf rouge and we were in the abandoned windmill that had people living there and I rolled a nat 20 and almost killed the dude in the room. The door literally exploded on impact

he had a point, what if the door is a mimic?

I think it would have been funnier if he kicked doors seemingly at random, and in-universe a party member gets sick of it and tries to open a door he was about to kick that turned out to be a mimic, revealing the cleric had a "sixth sense" for mimic doors.

My guy has clearly played Gungeon, and I for one respect that.

After getting stuck to a mimic door like fly-paper trying to check for traps, I approve of this cleric.

He’s a tempest cleric. The sound of his foot hitting the door makes a thunderous boom, and Keranos the god of storms is chaotic good

Ballista with trigger tied to door: Now this looks like a job for me

A real shame that Cleric didn't continue with the party, he would've gotten a really good laugh out of it

Lol reminds me of a friend's campaign. Where a party member kicked a door so hard in a dungeon that their foot went through the door. The dm decided to make them roll for intimidation. He scared the mini boss so bad it died.

My druid, whom I played like a bumbling Sherlock Holmes, constantly opened every door without looking for traps in a dungeon. He kept making his saves by the skin of his teeth, but I enjoyed the gamble and the bit was funny enough.

Was muttering the entire time up to the reveal: "If it's a mimic, the kick will do damage." 👍
