'You Can Literally Talk To Animals!' - Astarion To DRUID After Bite FAIL - BG3

If you tell Astarion NO BITE ME and NO BITE PEOPLE, this is the dialogue you get IF YOU ARE A DRUID who HAS CAST SPEAK TO ANIMALS BEFORE you talk to Astarion the next morning. I imagine if you have a Speak To Animals spell scroll, and cast it before talking with him, you might get this dialogue as well.

This is yet another tour-de-force for Neil Newbon - SUCH ACTING, SUCH VOICE, SUCH EXPRESSION. ***swoon*** And he is SO FUNNY LOL

EDIT: It’s 2023 and I’m playing on PS5. Astarion looks slightly different, but that could be a PS5 vs Mac thing. Anyway. In answer to your questions: If Tav is a GNOME in this scene, Astarion does NOT say “gnomes?” he says “halflings?” LOL

The smug little expression he makes as he tests the boundary on what he's allowed to eat is my favourite part of this interaction. His line delivery is so phenomenal, but that bit in particular conveys so much 😂

Honestly, I like Astarion. I don't trust him one bit, but I like him. His infantile animalism is charming and somewhat predictable. For someone who just got his freedom, he sure accepts being ordered around too easy.

Even better is that he says "I wouldn't be surprised to see a druid talking to a tree" because in a way druids do talk to trees lol. If he went with "Nothing I can communicate with" from a druid he would literally be left with nothing if you count talking to an elemental as talking to stones/water/air/fire/etc lol.

As a paladin, he was VERY quick to bring up that he only hunts animals. I noticed here, he didnt bring it up at all on his own.
Probably recognized how a druid would react to hearing that.

Honestly, when you've spoken to a few animals in this game - and by this point you should have - telling Astarion to go suck some random doggo or regular ox is arguably more evil than letting him drink from some murder bastards you need to kill anyway.
