your title is misleading...your issue is with this specific unit (or model or make) and not a "giant Tesla-style radio"

I just installed a unit I got from Amazon in my 19 F250 that retained almost everything from sync, including Fordpass remote start. There has been some settings tweaks to get it where I like it, including changing the launcher, but overall I'm happy with it so far. The manufacturer is YULU, and the only thing I've noticed missing is SYNC voice control which I never used anyway, and the zoom feature on the reverse camera. Factory 360 works and is not stretched.

Wow, sorry to hear that. I have a Phoenix PX6 on my 2017 Honda Accord and so far so good and works very well and I tether it to my Android phone and so far there has not been a problem. Although I had it for less than two months, I like it. Though some of the features could be better, I'm really enjoying it.

I too, put my stock back in after a year. Actually upgraded from sync 2 to sync 3. I would have gladly paid double for it to be what it should be.

What you are describing is a buggy experience, that should be the primary focus for these units, some people have great experiences but it really comes down to the software.

I had the px3 since 2018 n never had a major problems with it but I just recently removed because I'm upgrading to the 2021 model f150

One of the issues I'm commonly seeing is that there's too much tech in the car the screen is installed in. These are better for base model cars with less stuff tied to the head unit.

I've had my px6 for over a year. Its quirky but it definitely has not been as bad as yours. Some of the apps stopped working but its not as annoying. I believe you had a defective unit.

I have the same radio, worked great for 3 years and suddenly did what yours is doing. Just went black. Everything works, but no screen... Waiting on a reply from customer support. I'm well over the warrenty time but maybe they have a fix. I LOVE these radios. Way better looking then any other aftermarket radio for these trucks... But just some cheap stuff sometimes

One thing i love about tech, it gets improved all of the time. Have had their radio in my 08 Escalade and 16 Colorado and zero issues not resolved by some updates or programs. If they would just make them with an iPad then it would be perfect, ultimately just not an android fan.

I hear you on this I purchased a unit from Rhino Radios for my Toyota tundra with in 2 months of having the unit it started to show problems would be drivint and it would display the rearview camera as if it was on reverse, clearly reached out to the manufacture gave the runarrounds didnt solve anything added an additional 300.00 tag to a 900 pot already and purched the "new PX6" dind't work at all had to take it all down and install my factory unit back expensive leasson learned nice gimicky units but are worthless....

This video sealed it for me. I don't think I'm going to buy this anymore. When I watch the review on youtube from the actual company and how many steps you had to go through just to set it up. I was a bit skeptical and now I will pass and keep my 8' screen on my Taurus.

It’s 2024 and I have had mines for 6 yrs now…
But I have learned it cut the Bluetooth off if I wanna use the built-in CarPlay thru the zconnection. It picks up the Wi-Fi from the CarPlay. You can’t run the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi at the same time.

You should try the Linkswell Gen 4 unit. I have it in my Ram and have zero complaints.
