As a kid I thought you could get stuck if you dont leave escalator soon enough and die. Thats why getting on escalator used to be a matter of life and death for me.😂

When I worked as a mall cop I was walking with one of my supervisors who saw someone fixing one of the escalators. She walked up to talk since they knew each other and she noticed a few teens passing by. She then jokingly asked the repairman “So did you find the fingers from last night?” He the replies “Yeah it was very bloody down here.” At that moment the teens who were ready to take the escalators stopped when they heard that and went up the stairs.

Those grooves lock the step and comb plate together, which makes it harder for any hazardous materials to slide underneath the lip. This prevents foreign objects from getting stuck in that gap, potentially causing the escalator  tall, or worse, break down completely
