20 years ago they were a kit maker with an above 50% fatality rate. So don't tell me it's impossible to innovate and succeed in GA.
Cirrus is perhaps the BMW of GA but we need a Tesla. Not necessarily battery electric but science level aggressive progress. SR22 is not great engineering, it's more a modern Cessna. Quite mediocre engineering. No real excellence. So there is plenty of opportunity to leapfrog.
Cirrus could themselves develop a small turbofan engine for a light 4 seater and thereby close the door for all other plane makers. And by light 4 seater I don't mean SR22 weight. That's a heavy 4 seater. In jet config it can be much lighter. Like a factor 4. Or better.
