What I did forget to mention is that his status as a "god" can PERHAPS be debated. He may be closer to that of a minor god or even just a very powerful daemonic entity.

Canon or not his followers armor is some of the most satisfying and awesome looking armor I've seen in fiction

The God status as compared to the other four might not be fully cannon.
Though as a diety or powerful warp entity he is cannon (imo) because of all the chaos and anarchy in the galaxy. He could have grown like the „real“ three and could potentially become just as or even more powerful than the others.

My head canon is the 11th Primarch fell to Malice or at least The Emperor designed him to inevitably fall to Malice as a weapon against Chaos itself and either rebelled earlier than planned or learned of his inevitable fate that he would turn traitor and did something to give Russ an excuse to end his misery for him via execution

I know that the Horus Heresy book, Malevolence has him.

The book includes rules for the daemon hordes of the dark gods. They include
-Crimson fury (Khorne)
-Creeping scourge (Nurgle)
-Lurid Onslaught (Slaanesh)
-Maddening swarms (Tzeentch)

But there's a 5th swarm, the "Mirror of Hatred"
The following is a description of these Daemons
"Such is the hatred that swirls within the Warp that it encompasses all things, and like the dragon of eternity that feasts upon its own tail, this hatred extends even to itself....for Chaos was both its name and nature."

Plus the rules are all very thematic to Malice
