The major Mt. St. Helens eruption took place on May 18th 1980, not in March. There were small ash and steam plumes before then, but I was in Portland when it blew the top off, and that's something you don't forget.

Volcanoes are actually nuuuts, would love to see one up close, but can also imagine the fear that'd kick in 😂

It shed ash in south eastern Michigan for over a month, and made a cold summer.

Shouldn't you also hear the outburst at no.4? At least with a delay?

Mt. St. Helens! I lived in Portland when this thing erupted. Ash was all over the place. Fell on my first brand new car. I even have photos of it. Thank goodness we only got ash. It could have been much worst. But I still think Mt. Rainer will be even worse when it wakes up.

Narration here was much better and actually really interesting 👍

Mt. Helens is super scary when you think that this volcano basically has the power of a nuclear weapon (just without the radiation fallout).

Always wondering who thinks „Let’s film these!“, I would be running XD

Have been able to see 4 volcanoes in a matter of 20 minutes or less. TG non were active at the time. Also hope non become active any time soon. Out 4x4ing I saw Mt Rainier, Mt Saint Helen, Mt Adams and Mt Hood. All are beautiful.

The one that scares me the most is Mt Rainier. More glaciers than the other three combined and then some. I see her out my door. She blows, I am effed.

The sound of an eruption volcano can be quiet and hissing or explosive and booming. The loud cracks travel hundreds of miles and do the most damage, including hearing loss and broken glass. So, It's terrifying.

Filming one of these must feel incredibly lucky but also incredibly unlucky at the same time. I hope everyone involved was fine.

1:27 that’s the kind of footage which will haunt me in nightmares. Running away from a pyroclastic flow from that position.

Pretty cool stuff this time. The first video must have been terrifying for the people there.

On (May 20, 1980) Mount St. Helens made a nasty mess throughout much of WA State...we had about 2" of ash at my home on the east side of WA Washington 😳✌️

I understand that classifying things like this is difficult. I wonder why you didn't include Mt Pinatubo. It killed more people and affected the climate more than any listed here.

How they weren’t on the move that second that mountain was burping is beyond me? Those pyroclastic flows are several hundred degrees and will turn people into dust! That volcano in Jakarta nearly brought down a 747 British Airways flight 009 in 1982… look up the story it’s friggin nuts. All the leading edges were sandblasted which was causing the plane to glow from the friction (Saint Elmo‘s fire) like by the volcanic debris at 30+ thousand feet!! They lost power in all 4 engines at one point!
