Reducing backside mechanics is essential if you want to run faster. Frontside mechanics are how you produce maximum power and ultimately sprint faster.
In contrast, backside mechanics, involve a more inefficient movement pattern where your legs move backwards behind your body in a reverse crescent moon movement. This can cause you to loose power, and increase ground time.

And yet what I find quite interesting is that while he is (essentially) highlighting the significant role of the hip flexor (in front side mechanics) none of the traditional strength training exercises actually targets the hip flexor. Squat? No. Deadlift? No. Power clean? No.

And even exercises such as the cable machine with ankle strap attachment are very poor at providing adequate overload. Perhaps the best exercise for loading the hip flexor at angular velocities and ranges of motion that replicate the demands of sprinting? Incline running--even better done on a treadmill as opposed to the ground in effort to achieve the maximum stretch reflex of the hip flexor, which is much less likely to be achieved/experienced during over-ground incline running.

This can only be done if you're strong enough to attain that position. People lean when they're too weak to run tall

Perfect explanation. I'm training my young athletes this now in hopes that they'll continue it in HS and then become better sprinters if they move on into a college.
