You would have to connect the tp link deco directly to the starlink instead of switch to starlink then to tp link if you want the bypass mode to work

I use Starlink as my backup for Cox and they do really nicely with my Ubiquiti Dream Machine Pro.

Great job! I just bought a starlink standard home system. I did this because the AT&T went down due to constructions issues. The system was down for 3 days. That meant that all of my security cameras stopped working all of my smart devices stopped working. (On a side note, just finished installing my solar system.) So, with the Starlink I will have the redundancy built in. I have that with my solar system. I like you will still keep the AT&T due to the low cost of$65.00 per month unlimited. But for the emergency situation I have the peace of mind that I can go through the starlike system to keep my home running as though nothing had happened to AT&T. BUT if starlink lowers their monthly price and AT&T raises theirs well that's a no brainer. I like the idea of using your EV to power your home in an emergency. Keep up the good work looking forward to seeing your next video.

When it comes to having a backup internet connection, two is one and one is none. I can definitely say that Starlink definitely came in clutch after going two nearly back to back hurricanes on the west coast of Florida.

Milton caused the most damage in my area. No power and wireline internet for 2 weeks. Cell service was completely out or spotty for 3 days. Starlink was up throughout the storm with signal dropouts totaling no more than 5 minutes during the 12 hour window of the storm was passing over us.

We have been using Starlink as our primary residential IP for almost a year now. All good.. Like you mentioned, we prefer, and have a vested interest in, supporting SoaceX vs. ATT for the extra $30 a month. Our daughter works for Starlink in Redmond, WA.

I found out later that bypass mode will not work if you are first hitting a network switch, so that was my issue. If you go straight from the starlink router to another router without the switch between them it will work. In my case, I needed the switch to make the connection to routers far away in other rooms because I didn’t want to put one of my good routers in a tiny closet, so switching them to an access point worked well.

In 2022 I was getting $450 a month electricity bills in California and was forced to purchase 2 2400w Bluetti indoor solar power generators and step off the grid! Turned off my breaker box and never looked back! Except my local internet service provider did not have a backup power plan for grid outages! So I was forced to go with Starlink and it’s been exceptionally awesome! I was paying $90 for 49Mb and have no issues paying $120 for 375-447Mb…!! Much faster and no outages when the grid goes down!! Since June 2022 I have not been affected by a total of 9 grid outages!! I will be adding a Starlink Mini eventually!! I highly recommend Starlink to anyone who has shoddy internet service like I used to…👍😎

Been thinking about installing this system. My current provider is getting weaker as the cost keeps going up.
Your knowledge is clearly over my head, so I'll move on😊

Extra points for "that's what she said" 😄 Great video! I'm in SecOps and I work remote / VPN and looking to buy a home in a more rural area next year that I know doesn't have broadband.

I live back in hills of WV and have been wanting to try starlink but I'm worried about how it works when a few feet of snow has covered everything 6:24

I found your video very informative and several things brought curiosity to my mind. First, I would like to know what Network switch you recommend as you recommended the Mesh System?
Second, the tools that you mentioned, to include the meter, could you suggest and/or recommend those also? I would greatly appreciate your input. Thank you

hi,love your video, does the starlink need water proof or hail protective mount?

Interesting with those speeds im tempted to get it just to stick it to my ISP.

Like many people with 1 available option, competition is good! Probably for you its best just to keep it as a backup and enable as needed.

Texas AT&T Fiber here. Been considering starlink for residential as well. 1gig for $85. With the in and out of AT&T. Starlink slow but steady may be better. I have about 100 devices that need to stay connected.
I may have to make the switch. Unless Google Fiber becomes available in my area soon.

great video very simple to the point I live in a foothill area next to the mountain, since starlink has to face North is that a problem? also I am not good at setting up electronics, does best buy geek squad or any other computer experts install this system?

Here I am paying 100 a month for ATT at only 25mb. You just made my mind up.

I’m currently in the process of switching everything over to Starlink while also living in a residential part of a major city. Just like you all the ISP’s are horrible, they either have somewhat ok speeds but charge way over price making the speeds not even worth it or they’re big companies like AT&T that I like many others have had nothing but issues with. I was paying $106 for barely 60 mbps on a good day in an area of a city that didn’t offer fiber and I was told I had pretty much the best option at the time which in my opinion is ridiculous for me to pay that much for such low speeds.

So far with Starlink everything has been a smooth transition.
