I just figured out that same hack yesterday. I was ready to buy suction cups when I noticed that it fit perfectly in between the sun roof and cover. Nice. 🤣👍

Sunroofs has a great purpose now. To hold a starlink dish.

This is so great. We’ve been trying hotspots on phones for years so I can work from home on the road while my wife drives, but it’s literally terrible. Thanks so much Nate!

Hack Warning - I still switched to using a suction cup because the SL gets crazy hot if doing this in sunlight with the shade closed and holding it under the glass. Just careful you don’t cook and eventually kill your $600 unit.

I put it on my dashboard and use one piece of tape through the mount stand and then I put a t-shirt on top of the starlink so that it blends in with the color of my dash. It still works just fine with a T on top of it haha!

I work construction for a nationwide company. I constantly travel and got tired of having to find WiFi services in each new place I stay at in my camper. And rv park WiFi is absurdly slow. I just put my order in for the Starlink gen3 that way I always have my own QUICK internet service anywhere I go in the US and my kids don’t slow down my movie time with the wife after work. I love how tech has become so powerful and conventional to the average Joe

Was already doing this with the moon roof on the f150. Back 1/2. Glad it's useful for something.

I had the same IDEA mate. I looked at magnets but my car roof is Aluminium, so I came up with this solution. I use an old envelope bubble wrap envelope (cut the middle out leaving protection around edges to allow ventilation) to stop it vibrating on glass, or you can stick on some soft protectors on top in corners. Worked great in winter but It starts getting hot now in Australian summer. So you need to keep it cool. My sunroof opens at back vertically which lets some airflow so still OK on 40C day recently. and you can half close the sunroof cover... When the sunroof is shut it is wedged so will not move..

Bro, you just saved me a ton of money! I was going to mount mine on the sunroof but seeing that it will fit in that space between the window and cover, I dont' need to buy a separate mount!!

definitely want this.... I never realized that so many small towns and rural areas still have very bad or non-existent cell data coverage from any of the big carriers(AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon)... found out the hard way when I was driving on the East Coast.(7-hour trip on state highways and some interstates.... no signal for any of the 3 carriers for at least half of the trip)

This is the best rockey canyon on either side test I've seen from a satellite internet company to date

They make them for mobile now too.. dc power input so no unnecessary inverter or giant battery bank

My husband has a really heavy data job would the mini be OK or would I need to go with the standard size and this is for roaming not for a home unit? he can if really push comes to shove use my hotspot in my car, but it is a little rough for him and he can only do limited amounts of work so we thought the Starlink roaming would be the perfect solution. Otherwise every time we go somewhere he hast to stay home unless he’s doing a very light work day. Would the money be as good as the standard size roaming one or is there pros or cons of the standard one versus the mini I would like the mini because it fitting in the sunroof like that would be really great and I don’t know what the size difference between the two is

Only place I mount mine is inside on the sunroof. I get a consistent 50mb down easy. Make sure you turn off your WiFi assist if you want a real test. Those speeds seem a little fast while moving. I can easily get 150 down on the mini stationary. Get the mini car adapter to only pull 24watts from either your car or your portable battery.

Wow now I want a vehicle with a sky window 😂 I’ve been wanting one of these but can’t use it in my town because of high crime rates, I’m afraid someone will just yank it off my jeep. Only other time I need it is when I’m working security, the back room I’m in doesn’t get to home service or wifi signal but my cell tower hotspot works if I put it near the window, but I don’t think I’d be able to use this there 🤔 my real issue is at home tho. I need one of these for at home but can’t afford to pay for 2 different internet providers…. I’ll have to work on that. I would hope that my neighbors could split the cost with me but idt they would be down.
