Starcraft II has the huge following and lets face it the majority of gamers like action so RTS's usually are more popular then turned based strategy.

IMO Civilization V should win because it improved and changed so much from the Civ IV and it's a damn good game. Starcraft 2 I played the beta and I wasn't at all impressed. I actually had more fun playing Halo Wars. I think SCII is overhyped.
