You know, as a bass fisherman, a bait cast reel just does the majority of the work for me.
You know, all of the baits that I really wanna fish fast and have a lot of power with a bait caster is the most efficient reel that you can use.
And some people are intimidated by them just because they're afraid of getting backlashes.
Well, a big part of that is knowing how to set up the reel.
The biggest thing when you go to set one up, as I tell people to turn that braking system to zero and set your spool tension to the weight of the bait first.
So this is a K V D 1.5 and, you know, it, it is not a heavy bait, but it's not super light as well.
So, you know, I'm gonna set my spool tension, especially if you're a first time user.
I'm gonna set it a little bit tighter so that bait just barely or might even have to shake it a little bit to get it to start to fall just for a first timer.
You want it a little bit tighter so you learn how to make that nice smooth casting stroke to not get backlashes and then I'm gonna go back and turn that centrifugal break up.
Now, all these brakes are designed to do is to slow these reels down towards the end of the cast.
So I like to set mine up to about the three quarter setting.
You know, if I'm trying to throw right into a stiff wind, I'm gonna even turn it higher.
I may turn it all the way right up to 10 or to the highest setting to be able to throw right into that wind.
Eventually.
I wanna have it a little bit looser so that I can really maximize the potential of this reel and get the best distance out of those baits.
