Power supply that I got at Hamfest, Didn't like the way it was setup so I changed it to suit my needs

Thanks, looks like a great project, I wish I was smart enough to figure that out, I'm trying to figure out the same thing, great job looks good

Good to see someone building stuff, having built a power supply (regulated) of reasonable current capability I am dubious on the rating of your transformer.... the output capacitor of yours needs to be much bigger.... mine is regulated so I don't have to worry too much about ripple before the regulator. Mine has 6v of ripple (peak to peak) at 100a with 160, 000uF. There is about a millivolt of ripple after the regulator....
Hope this does not come across badly...

I also got lots of capacitors really big ones. Some 10inches tall and 2 1/2 thick

That grey 300 is class B and it only draws 40 amps Max so a 100 or 200amp unregulated ps wont drop the volts down low enough to safely run it. Unless the amp is reworked to be xlass C.. Otherwise from my experience 15 volts will blow your transistors .. I hope you didnt allready find out the hard way.

I realize my last comment was sort of bashing. I didn't mean it that way. If it's doing the job you need it to do then there ya go. You can just do so much more with a good transformer. there is just no way to see if that transformer truly does what you were told. If the voltage is dropping on that amp you have then i doubt it is 100 amps

Looks like a really cool project man and please don't take this the wrong way because I am not trying to bash your stuff at all but are you sure that is 200 amp? if it is truly 200 amp then you may have a problem because that amp looks to be a 2 pill which should only draw 18-20 amps and even if it is a 4 pill it shouldn't draw more then 50 amps MAX which IMHO shouldn't drop the voltage that much.. Just a thought. BUT, like I said, VERY COOL PROJECT!

You are not going to run a class c amp on the ham band I hope. W5DN

Adam, Awesome job Bro. How did everything turn out once you put the amp in line? Thunder in Minnesota.

Sorry, don't wish to sound negative, but from my experience that does no look like a 200 Amp transformer @ 12v.
As you are getting 17vdc on the output you appear to have a 12-0-12 transformer output, .. and I would guess good for somewhere in the region of 5 to 10 Amps, .. but definitely not 200amps, ..

Would you know the make and model of the transformer ???? Please do tell if you would be so kind. Thanks too.

Nice project, but why didn't you use a full wave bridge rectifier?

Um, I am at a loss here. How are you rectifying? Half wave? 100 amps? 200 peak? I can't find spec's on that transformer. What is the VA. It could be 100 amps at 2 volts. At 15 volts it would be 13 amps. If it turely is 100 amps I doubt the voltage would drop much if at all.also, at the 17 volts it floats, its is a huge waste of a good transformer. The way that supply is configured, it will work, but it seems inefficient to me. .

i have same trasformer my question how you used rectifier amper

how many diameter of your wire which 200 amp can flow on your wire ?? thanks for your attention

What is that plastic you. Used on case? It looks very retro like bakealite. Where can I get some?

Guys give this man a break I gotta hand it to him at least he's building besides talking about building. Very nice project my friend I'm in the middle of a 100 amp build myself. Switching mode. Lol yeah guys I know. Junk .... But it's my junk I'm a cb operator. Got a question for anyone willing to help it's already got small filter caps on input and output but am wondering hows the quickest way to filter some rf noise can I add a large filter capacitor

What is the output voltage when rectified through the diode where is the capacitor for smoothing

Hay, nice video.
This is a stupid question but I got to ask.
Where did you get you dc power from the stud rectifire or from your transformer.
In your video I only see the red wire ob your heat sink

Im sorry, but if that thing puts out 100A u would not put the output terminals so close (im assuming those bolts at the front are them)! otherwise nice video, why did you put the fans on the outside instead of the inside, too little room?
