Comparison between Tap water, Brita filter, distilled and Reverse Osmosis TDS readings

This is a short video to show you the difference having different types of water filters can make on the quality of your water. In the UK anything above 400 parts per million is considered unsuitable for drinking. Water contains many chemicals like pharmaceuticals, Toxins, acids which can negatively impact your body.

Check out my full review on the Aquatrue reverse osmosis machine.

This was an incredible video. I used to own a britta and since upgraded to a zerowater pitcher. I like it a lot more. It comes with a TDS meter that measures PPM but it doesn't show a decimal like yours did. It does however show a range of 000 to 999. I'm impressed that I get 000 for the first month, after which it starts to go to 002 and 005 and then quickly increases. What are your thoughts? Would this be comparable to a water distiller? I'm thinking of getting one but they sure are costly, though filters do add up. 😕 Thanks for the great video! 😀

Nice comparison. Not the systems I was looking for but good to know. Also little concerned how some of the videos like this try to sway people to having 0 of anything. Water does have good minerals in it that we need. People pay extra to have mineral water. Anyway, I like how there was less of a nudge to having "pure" water, this was more of informative and comparison of price, time and effect. So overall, really good.

Just a thought TDS doesn't necessarily indicate toxic elements. It also indicates Ca & Mg that are essential for health.

Can anyone tell me why my Brita reads a higher TDS than the tap I used to fill it? I tried it with a filter that wasn't very old, and then replaced it with a new filter. Ran 3 pitchers of water through, rinsed it with filtered water, and still, the number goes up. Using my reverse osmosis filter I get 4, Poland Spring water from cooler 7. Tap 145, and Brita 150. Any explanation?

Great video thanks for posting this I'm in the UK like you and I have been on Amazaon looking at inexpensive water filter jugs, but through your test I see these filter jugs are only marginally improving the results over tap water ! Not sure how much you would have to pay to get a filter jug that makes the water as good as bottled water you buy in the shops as some tests have shown various brands of bottled water get down to 22 parts per million which is massively below the 289 score of your filter jug, but one thing is for sure I won't be buying one of these cheap water filter jugs !

Does this not strip out all the minerals and then it can deplete the minerals in the body no?

Well TDS in water is normal, the Brita does a fine job at filtering out what needs to go, no need to go overboard.

Is it really Distilled water system is more costly to run? Considering the cost of the AquaTru and the price of the filters? Also, some people complain that machine breaks?

What's he best for lead? Turns out i have a lead water supply pipe with 4x the safe limit if lead getting in.

Bet the 0.04 was carried over from the previous tests

Pity I don't get told what TDS stands for.

poor job explaining what the TDS is actually measuring, that only measures heavy metals, which is important to get rid of indeed, but what should concern more the people should be fluoride. next time would be good if you do the fluoride test.

Cleaning water creates a serious problem. The vital good minerals are removed too so you have to add them from supplements which is not ideal.
