This was a breath of fresh air, with so much great information without leaving out any of the small details. Thank you. I have struggled a lot lately to get noise free S-log3 footage with my sony a7s iii and this helped a lot. Cheers from Norway 🇳🇴

Just watched quite a number of your videos. They are all great fun to watch and very valuable.

Can you give example when and where do you use C1 and C2 zebras? Also phantom luts assume you do 56 exposure, so when you shoot 95 (your C2) how does that behave? The phantom luts. TA

Get a light meter with a spot meter on it and expose for white in exposure compensation on light meter plug in 1.6 (Sony recommended) or 3.2, 3.5 or 3.9 which is 2 stops over including your skin tone values thank me later use this and you will not clip at all as long as you are in your native iso reminder expose for white with meter to protect your highlights those values I gave compensates from black skin being 3.9 to white skin being 3.2 or 3.5 to be in between to be safe. just remember to bring image down in post so middle grey is correctly brought backt at 40% IRE on your scopes. Cleaner Image when you try it.

What are your thoughts on IRE AND ZEBRA variations for people with very dark skin tone and very light skin tones? Thanks!

Why 65? Ive seen people say anywhere from 56-65. I know its somewhat subjective but what's your thought process on it?

I believe S-log3 is PP8 and PP9, right?

any clue why the zebras stop working if u put lower limit to 100+ ? zebras only show 95, everything above that never shows even if its super bright, cranked iso to the max to see, nothing showed. but if i change to s cinetone it shows. something with slog3...

short and informative.. thanks.. I have one question, how do you set the wb for slog3?? I have noticed that if your wb is not accurate or close to accurate then in slog3 it can become a real mess easily . Earlier used to set my wb to a specific value and shoot throughout the day but recently someone told me that I have to set wb for each scene if I need to get the most accurate colors possible. Which one is correct or more reliable if you have a whole day shoot and the weather is randomly changing throughout the day???

Great video. Subscribed!! Quick question, joelfamularo says to set Set Custom Zebras Std+Range at 56 IRE and with a +- of 3. I find if I get my skin tone highlights in that range I generally have good results. I know you are a big fan of his and use the awesome phantom luts, just wondered why you decided to set yours at 65. Gona do some some tests but thought I would ask. Thank you

So for SLOG3 on a7siii for example if aperture is lowest (2.8 on my 12-24gm lens), shutter is 60 (30fps), and iso is 640 (recommended for a7siii), and the meter is showing 0 or negative number, which of the 3 above to I put higher to increase light and get to overexposure +1.7-2? I don’t want to touch aperture, so should I up the iso? Not shutter speed? Or use the overexposed compensation wheel? Please help!

With Sony A7S3: Hello never made a good picture with s-log 3 in situations low light extremely too much noise. Yes I overexposed 1, 7 stop.
Same with s-log2 overexposed 1, 7 stops much noise but less noise. Nog good. Als with my Sony FS7 (changed now for the A7S3) too, much noise with s-log3.
But with cinetone it's very good as good as NO NOISE!!! How is it possible???
