Easy EGR Delete in 1 Minute! VW Golf TDI MK4 EGR Valve-Vacuum Hose Pipe Blocked Off with Bolt/Screw

Warning - on my 2002 VW Golf PD130 TDI this does not set a check engine light. Other cars may be different so do this at your own risk. If you have access to VCDS software then you can easily turn the CEL back off again.

Using a 6mm diameter screw or bolt you can block the vacuum hose and stop the EGR valve from working. This simple video shows you how to do this in less than a minute - the fastest EGR delete! Long term you would still need to remove the EGR unit if you want it gone permanently but this is a quick fix to test if it makes any difference not being active

Recently did this on my E91 330D and now seeing 10 mpg+ returns, just wish I'd done it years ago.

For people asking you only have to block the vacuum line to stop the egr from working

Removing this hose stops the egr from keeping closed while under load. What you want to do is fit a flat piece is aluminum (as a teen I used a soft drink can) in the shape of the flange. Search "dose pipe" for more details

My 02 Golf unfortunately had a CEL pop on after driving it for about 10 minutes. Ran a lot better with the vacuum plugged.

I just did this with my oil change. I'm about to see what it feels like to drive without it. It'll be much better I think

So this keeps the valve closed at all time?

Is it enough to close the pressure hose or do I have to program something else using software (vcds)?

Can blocking the hose stop my car from randomly cutting out? As my mechanic has said it could be a egr fault???

Est-ce lorsque l'EGR annule le fonctionnement normal du moteur ?

I had some nasty issues with my EGR on a Peugeot 307... I got error code P0401 and especially in cold starts, the engine would shatter and even die when revved. Eventually it would work but with power loss and limp mode. After a bit of "research", I disconnected the vacuum solenaoid from the EGR. Basically, the same thing as you just that I removed the pipe from the solenoid side because my EGR is quite hard to reach. After doing this, my car flies, like a new born car. 😁 Do you think it would affect my DPF?

Deleting the EGR you may have more vibrations/noisy engine at idle due to the engine taking more mass air, you can see it with vagcom and maybe you can see: MAF Specified: 200 and MAF actual 430 for example

I own a 1.9 PD105(77kw)... Will try this! Is it safe in terms of engine lifespan as many say combustion temperature will rise n effect the engine life?

That vacuum hose on my 1.9 TDI is really tight, I can't seem to remove it from the EGR so easily like you did in the video, if I pull any harder I'm afraid it'll tear the hose pipe resulting in vacuum leak

Bit of a silly question here, but why has the EGR hose pipe been blocked off?, under what circumstances would you block it off and what are the benefits of doing so.... am curious
