I did the EGR, intercooler, and ECU programming on my 2002 Jetta TDI. I now have 348, 000 miles on that car and have had few engine problems.

The EGR system was plunging up my cold air intake manifold so bad that air to the cylinders had nearly stopped. I replaced the air intake manifold and cleaned the valves at the head removed the EGR valve entirely as well as the coolers. That increased MPG by 1/3 of stock performance and increased it pulling ability noticeably. The air intake was improved so much that with a new stock air filter, the air restriction monitor came on reading replace the filter when pulling up a grade. I had to install a performance after-market cold air filter and air box.

Simple answer is YES. Because it's like connecting toilet to fridge. Fuel consumption should also go down a bit, because engine is getting pure air and not air with exhaust gases mix.

Very informative video! What amazes me is that most of the commenters here does not realize that EGR have a valve that only opens when it s needed.

In my Land Rover Evoque I had the EGR software removed and Love It❤ .. I don't need hot dirty air going back into my clean air

The EGR valve brings in exhaust gases and in this way lowers the temperature in the chamber! The biggest danger of erasing the valve is that the temperature in the engine will rise! Many people offer services to remove it, but nowhere do we see reports of what happens to it after long use without it ...

I was thinking bloking EGR valvule but i decided not do it for 2 main reasons:To avoid high temperatures in the engine and also avoid problems in turbo.I cleaned the Egr last year and i think its the best way.

Under normal circumstances on a new car. the EGR isn't a problem, but as it starts to gum up after 50k, 70k, 100k miles, it can stick slightly open, sending exhaust gas into the inlet manifold at every RPM range.

My old Peugeot 106 diesel had a relay operated EGR valve. The relay failed and the MPG improved from 63 mpg to 80. That car went on to 268000 miles before being scrapped with a still good engin (bad gearbox +ULEZ).

First thing you do after buying a modern diesel car used or right after the guaranty expires in a new one is delete the EGR and DPF. You should consider this cost as part of the vehicle purchase. If you live in a still somewhat free country that is.

One of the first deletes when modding yer car. The soot reintroduced to the intake is horrible

I just spent $150 on a brand new EGR valve for my 1999 Mitsubishi Mirage DE 1.5L (manual). When I hear about performance improvements, it really makes me want to return the valve and do a delete. On the other hand, my engine just passed 230, 000 miles and I'm on a mission to get the coveted "Antique" plate for her in 2029. Deleting the EGR sounds awesome and will probably save money with a return of my new EGR (I put literally 2 miles on the new valve), but at the same time I probably shouldn't rock the boat and take the risk. Plus I read that many computers will recognize the EGR as clogged and will run the engine lean. I'm assuming the higher-end kids will fix that problem. Maybe I'll revisit the delete option down the road.

Best, most informative video I've seen regarding an EGR delete. I decided against deleting the EGR on my NB Miata upon hearing that WOT performance will not be affected. The negatives now outweigh the positives as far as I am concerned. Thank you for this video.

I have a 2010 Focus 1.6 TDCI which keeps losing torque through the gears but as soon as I stop and restart the enging the problem goes away for a few miles and then comes back after several miles. I had the EGR and fuel filter replaced 2 months ago and it cured the problem about 80% but this last 2 weeks it's come back as bad as ever. I know of 2 people who had the EGR software deleted and this cured their problem, they said the engine ran better and the emissions passed the MOTs. My EGR is still under warranty so am taking it back to the garage shortly and will ask him about the option of deleting the software if it happens again.

I got a Range Rover sport 2.7 and it was blowing out black smoke. So I did a strip down and a clean and it made no difference. So I pulled my pipes off and fitted plates so did the job and went for a drive and it was amazing. I had no smoke and the engine feels smooth I had no re map or lights on the dash. I’ve done it for 3 months and now just did a service and found no problems

I am the lucky owner of a Vauxhall Antara 2.0 and was very sluggish due to a mechanic who put the cam belt on 2 teeth in the wrong direction, after new valves, cam shaft etc etc I decided to blank off the EGR vale and while the icu was being vamped up by 40 HP had the management light code taken off as well. The car goes like a rocket now and less fuel, if it blows up it's only an Antara so no big loss there.

Hi I am a owner of a 2.0bitdi automatic 4motion amarok 2018 with 96000km on and I have done a egr delete and catalytic converter delete. My vehicle has a much better performance, but the main thing is my intake manifold is clean and my oil stays clean much longer. Now I can service the vehicle every 10 thousand km. I am happy with my choice and would do it with every vehicle that is fitted with this money making scheme.

Short answer : yes. Worth it.
Long answer : get a kit that can disable or enable the egr on demand. A proper solution can on the fly reenable the valve so your car is legal whenever inspected. And disable it otherwise.

EGR valves are put on because the government forced manufacturers through lawll to put it on not because the manufacturers wanted it. I remove mine and Michael runs a lot lot better.
