]TIPS FOR NEW DJs - Where you should put your speakers when DJing on a stage

This is one of those things that you learn after doing this for an extended period of time in a universe of different locations. Some rooms or events provide staging so the DJ is elevated. I personally hate being on a stage for a number of reasons, but one of the things I have learned is that your speakers should be left on the same level as your party people if you are using traditional (no line array) style speakers or systems.

Sound when elevated over the heads of people may not sound the best bc the range may be over the people you are playing to.

Would love to know your thoughts and opinions on this.

Great advice as always Jason, came across this issue this weekend as I had to set up behind a band that was playing before me and the venue was quite small so the subs would not fit on the floor while the dinner was going on. It turned out well either way, but I felt the bass was lacking a bit yes.

got my jmix8's mid/subs under the DJ booth and column arrays on poles attached to the booth. Not ideal for quality sound output I know, but it offers the best protection against clumsie pissheads. I don't know what's happened to beer since the end of lockdown, but people appear to be drunker and more carefree of other peoples property. The dancing with two pints or goblets in each hand to Sweaty Caroline bumping into the DJ booth seems to be the norm here in the UK.
