Despite all his success, David Guetta will always be known as the guy that ended racism.

The rave scene in America is *far* softer than Europe. In places like Berlin and Holland, it's regular for both DJ's and ravers to go clubbing Friday night until Sunday (clubs open Friday midnight, close Monday morning 11 am), openly participating in sex and drugs in the clubs. Dj's like Sven Vath were known for mammoth 12+ hour sets

My take away from this is: Thank you MDMA for spreading Electronic Dance Music to the masses Lol, in all seriousness, I like David's perspective on things. He knows how to put electronic music in the right light.

Indeed 50 years old are listening to it, going to those concerts, festivals and having the best time.

When Guetta said "... and 50-year-olds are listening to it", Larry must have thought "I get it, you already said children".

Say whatever you want, but this guy is speaking the truth about what makes a superstar DJ.
Look at Calvin Harris, Avicii RIP :(, Martin Garrix, Skrillex, Diplo, etc.
They are all music producers, and some are mainly just producers, like Calvin Harris and Avicii, etc.
Who got into DJing because of producing, for others it is different but the reason these guys are so big is that they have made tracks which have been heard by billions of people around the world. Sure the House and Techno Gatekeepers can cry and complain all you want, but the fact is that this is EDM Today, EDM is very mainstream. These Slap House tracks get millions of views on youtube and EDM has been and will continue to be placed in the charts for years to come, maybe not in one country but in another, it will be huge.
I am not sure about the part he said about drugs but he was telling the truth about everything else.

“What makes a good DJ?”

“I have no idea, go and ask one.”

He says a good dj has to work the crowd... id put money that his sets are worked out and not on the fly. Djs like him cant "afford" mistakes or "risks/deviation" when intertwined heavily with business just like the film industry.

Notice at 1:10 Guetta now thinks the question was "how do you become a famous DJ?" rather than a "good" DJ. That's Guetta's subconscious defense mechanism kicking in.

Well meanwhile almost everyone at Psytrance festivals is high. Man being on psychdelics with the everyone else on the floor is magic. And I bet same goes for other genres, truth is people do shit ton of psychedelics and stimulants. And that's the better scenario, then you have worse stuff like alcohol and hard drugs.

drugs were and still are everywhere. I agree that not everybody who listens to EDM does drugs (I don't), but there will always be people that take drugs and go to rave parties just for this cause. Also even 15 year-olds do drugs nowadays
Note: I know the interview is 3 years ago I just needed to say that
