[4K] Final Fantasy 12 on PC: What Does It Take To Hit 60fps?

preview_player
Показать описание
The Zodiac Age gets a new port and it can run at 60fps! Indeed, you can't actually run it any higher. But what kind of hardware do you need to get the job done? We test a range of modern GPUs at 1080p, 1440p and 4K resolutions and offer up a full graphics comparison.

You guys are incorrect on tweaking graphic settings. You can tweak them while in game by selecting "config" in menu.

Either way I'm glad this game is finally getting the attention it deserves :)

This video is extremely, EXTREMELY educational. I am grateful. I appreciate the effort and detail put into this video.

PC focused content is great but in all of the videos by DF there's still a big omission of 21:9 support. For me it was a biggest game changer with the new PC - such a huge FOV and all of the UI sitting on the sides of the screen not obstructing the experience - great stuff! And it's not a niche thing as well - I see support coming up in all of the new games. Wolf 2 even had cinematics rendered to 21:9 in the package.

Really enjoying the PC focused content, DF. Keep it up.

Ok so are u saying that a PS2 game with only little graphic changes at 1080p max settings can't run RX 580 and can barely hit 60 fps on a gtx 1060. A guy few days ago said that It was the normal evolution of game graphic that was making worse performance, i see 2 things : a PS2 game that on 1080p runs like shit, and Square Enix.

You don't have to go back to the title screen to change video settings, you can go to the Configure menu in the main menu and you can select Graphic Settings

Why would you want any AA on 4k resolution? It's just not budgeting the graphics resources properly.

This game should be 1080p 60fps on BASE PS4. The fact that its having issues running at 4k 60 on high end pc hardware is a joke.

The graphics menu CAN be accessed during gameplay. I've done it multiple times. Just go to Menu->Config->Graphic Options. The more obscure issue with this port is how it handles vibration. It at times just stops working for no reason.

Remove GameWorks.

Oh wait. Wrong video.

I find it odd that consoles are literally AMD architecture yet when the games ported into PC, the AMD cards loses to nVidia.

I simply cannot understand why he is using MSAA at all, when virtually no one uses this at 4K or 1440p. Nvidia control panel offers a very effective AA solution with almost zero impact in performance, I suppose that AMD has their own solution as well. And I bet you can maintain an almost perfect lock at 4k 60 on a GTX 1060. This dude should have done 4 tests. MSAA X8 just because, X4 X2 and off. Leaving everything else at ultra. Or adjusted if needed. Please. Scrape this video and get John or Tom to do it again.

Great video, but a few things. You were wrong about changing graphics settings as you can do so from the config menu in-game. And second, I do not agree with your graphics tweaks entirely. Ambient-occlusion at half-res is definitely necessary, but shadows can be kept at high, DoF disabled helps a lot, and MSAA at 1440+ just seems unnecessary. I'm using an R9 290 and the only issues I have are in cities, and drops are relatively minor at 1440p. Also, it would really be appreciated if you use some older cards when testing as not everyone (especially currently) is using a current-gen GPU.

Runs buttery smooth on my ancient PC(i72600, gtx1060 3gb, 16gb RAM). Everything maxed out. NO issues present like lots of steam users have apparently.

I've missed these in depth PC videos. Comparing consoles is nice and all, I have a couple of consoles myself. However, since you have more options on PC both on terms of hardware and graphic settings, I find this kind of videos much more informative and useful.

I think it's also high time to do another video on Ultra Wide screens. The last one Digital Foundry did was years ago. FF12 on PC supports ultrawide so that could be a great starting point.

gtx 1070 and i7 2600 here, I finished the game getting 60 FPS at 4k with ambient occlusion on half-resolution

If I remember correctly, the graphic settings can be changed on the fly in game from the menu. I did it multiple times in order to find out if I needed MSAA that much.

This game also supports Ultrawide. You should do, or consider including at least 2560x1080 Ultrawide in your reviews and analysis of games that do support ultrawide.

PS4/PS4 pro visuals. NO MSAA, medium shadows, and half resolution Ambient occlusion (those are the most demanding settings) And 30fps lock. 1080p for PS4 and 1440p on PS4 pro
Beating PS4 quality is very easy and can easily be done on lower end nvidia GPU. GTX 1050 Ti is more than twice better than base PS4 because you can play it 1080p 60fps at slightly better setting (4x or 2x MSAA, highest shadows, half resolution Ambient occlusion is still better than PS4 version setting, and you runs it at double fps at same time)
