Welcome to the Next Project, this is a (3 minute) 2 Minute Tip.

If you use a lot of different electric corded power tools, you may find adding a momentary "on" foot-switch to your collection of tools a worthwhile investment.

The product I have is a TEMco 15amp Momentary On Switch.
This and similar items can be found on ebay and amazon.
Here are a couple sample links, if you are interested:

In this video I briefly introduce using a momentary foot switch and add a reminder of safety practices. My switch does not have a protective shroud, which would be a good thing to have. The shroud will help prevent accidental powering up of the connected tool, should you accidentally step on the switch or something fall onto the switch - it could happen!

Possibly the biggest flaw with using a foot-switch of this kind is the possibility of leaving the power tool switch in the "on" position, even after the foot switch has been removed. The next time the power tool is plugged in directly to and outlet - it will spin up and create a potential trip to the hospital.

Always turn the power tool switch to the "off" position whenever the tool is not in use, or adjustments are being made to the tool, such as bit changing, depth adjustments, etc.
Be safe - not sorry.

I have a Foredom rotary tool, ( Think Dremel on Steroids) complete with momentary foot switch also 0 rpm to escape velocity foot switch! That foot switch is right by my foot at the bench. Don't pay attention once or twice it won't happen again! Good idea, Great safety tips!👍

Please save yourself and whoever builds this a trip to the Hospital, and install a simple On/Off switch to the momentary switch. That and a shroud. It's really a great thing to have, but all of your fingers and your eyes are even more great to keep.
