The single arm dumbbell snatch is a dynamic, compound movement that works your whole body but primarily targets the shoulders, lower back, hamstring, and glutes.

This movement is often seen in CrossFit WOD's but is also a great movement for any athlete to incorporate into their fitness routine. The explosive nature of the dumbbell overhead snatch matches the intensity of movement that is typically required during sports. Performing this movement increases power, coordination, balance and core stability making this an excellent training movement for all athletes.

you have to talk about where the elbow is... Most people turn snatch into clean press because they drop elbow... You should 100 percent redo this video and explain that the elbow stays up the the force behind the lift comes from posterior deltoid. This is a tough one teach but one of my favourite moves.

This isn’t even a muscle snatch. Leave alone a power snatch it’s half a deadlift followed by a front raise taken to vertical. A power snatch invokes POWER generated by the legs. There has to be a jump

What is the benefit of this compared to stopping the weight at your shoulder and then pressing?

Not to be an ass. But the snatch lift and deadlift start are not the same. You dont do the beginning of a snatch with a deadlift. Dumbell or barbell. It's a different kind of lift. One has a hip touch because you dont fully lock out your butt. If you perform a deadlift motion it defeats the purpose of the anatch because it would be next to impossible to get under the weight. Which is what you are trying to do with a snatch or a clean. It's a different start and than a deadlift. That's all. Not against crossfit, I actually implement it in my routine. Just kinda annoyed with how some movements are explained.

This is the worst form I have seen it’s missing the hip drive …this is a deadlift/back row to an overhead press

Looks more like a dumbbell muscle snatch. If it were a dumbbell snatch there would be more hip drive involvement

His technique gets worse as the video goes on, that last rep was especially bad. If you don't believe me just stop start the video
