Yes, to better quality, better health. For your large family, $2003 is excellent. $2003 divided by 13 them divided by 4 weeks only comes to $39 a week per person and that is excellent, EXCELLENT.

You need to start fruit trees now. It takes several years for them to bear fruit. Also hey yourself a garden spot plowed up. Start simple. Potatoes, carrots, parsnips, onions, etc. get strawberries and raspberries going too. Will save you tons of money, and give the kids something to take care of. This is from a North Dakota farm girl. Mom did not get much from the grocery store at all.

Sarah, not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but be sure to freeze those raisins for a week before you store them on the shelf. We love Azure's raisins and buy them in the 10 pound box, but once we had little bugs hatch while they were in a glass jar on the shelf. Now I always freeze them ahead of time before storing. Love the super-frugal and healthy haul! 💕🥰💕🥰

Sarah- I know your budget has gone up, but so has everyone's budget! You are doing fantastic for your family size. You have to pick and choose what your priorities are and healthy food is a great priority. You are not overspending! Love this!

Funny but true story. I have a hard time falling asleep and have tried all the soothing music etc.
I pick one your playlist and hit play all. Your voice reminds me of one of my older sisters. Your smile too. I peacefully go to sleep. I also talk in my sleep. I woke myself up having a conversation with you last week 😂 Jennifer at a country life works for me too!!

It would be very beneficial for you, and anyone else that will be taking on the responsibility of milking the cows, to spend some time on a dairy farm actually doing the work, getting comfortable with the safe methods of collection and getting familiar with the equipment before you have to dive head first into your own dairy processing. From experience, I can say that there is a lot involved in the collection, and storage of fresh milk and the equipment used to gather it. We have a fridge dedicated to milk that is kept sanitized and set at the optimal temperature for storage (36-38 degrees F).

My family of 6 were blessed to take in 3 nephews during a time of hardship so with my 4 and 3 other cousins who decided to stop by Ive had 10 kids in my 3br apt for 3 days and I immediately thought of you! It’s definitely a blessing and not for the weak. We buy very similarly and whew my grocery budget just exploded. Thankfully my friend with chickens is supplying our egg needs 😂 I definitely tapped into your big family tips for the next month.

I have tried once a month shopping and it didn't end up saving us money for one reason or another. Now I try to stick with once a week grocery shopping. I also found meal planning didn't end up working for us for multiple reasons. But what is helping us stick with a budget (barely!) is just stocking the ingredients for the typical meals we do make and planning as we go from what we have on hand!

I grew up on a farm in Indiana. We always had our own beef. I remember in college, Dad called and told me to plan on coming home because we were doing meat. The neighbors had a garage we used to cut and wrap the meat plus do hamburger. We did 3 whole beefs that day! It was for 3 families. I was so glad come winter to have "real" meat.❤

Always enjoy watching your grocery hauls. It's always interesting to see what others are buying, for ideas and inspiration. 😅
Happy Monday to the whole fam and can't wait to see more of the new house! ❤

One thing just popped into my mind. If you are on a septic you should flush a teaspoon of yeast in each potty every month. The yeast really does a good job cleaning it out!

It is such a blessing when you get to the point when you are making some of your own dairy products. We no longer buy milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, ricotta, mozzarella, butter and sour cream. We are getting ready to start making hard cheese and can't wait for the experience. I can't wait for y'all to get there too! ♥

We went from $600 with 9 people up to $1600 for 9 people. Our budget went up over the past few years. We haven't gone over yet, which is great. We are doing more frozen fruits, vegetables because cans are so expensive compared to the frozen. We just do normal 1 time a month for groceries as well. Azure unfortunately for their drop off is 3 hours away. Would love to try it eventually.

I tried Azure standard after learning about them from you. I placed two orders (April, May) and everything was wonderful. No complaints. I plan on doing an order tomorrow. Thanks!

I encourage you to start a good sized berry garden. Blackberries, raspberries and strawberries all grow well in your area and will increase on their own. They also freeze well. Blueberries ate are a little trickier. Mulberries are tasty as well and easy to grow.. After your initial investment you will be supplied for many years. You may even have friends and neighbors who are willing to share starts.

As a single person living off Teacher Retirement and a little Social Security, thank you for inspiring me to use some of your shopping tricks. I started shopping once every three weeks and looking for items I love to stock up on when they're on sale. I portion out and freeze my bacon. I portion out spinach and lettuce ino air tight bags making it last days longer. I prep and wedge and seed my lemons in airtight jars and cover carrots and radishes in airtight jars. with cold water. I keep boiled eggs in fridge....with everything prepped and ready to go, I eat what I so convenient... Nothing sits and spoils....I store English Cucumbers in Apple Cider Vinegar....I COOK and save money and eat healthy and don't waste food. By wedging lemons, they are there stored and ready tor fish, pasta, water, hot tea, rice, etc. rather than watching one uncut lemon go bad because I was too tired to cut it tor just one meal..

So glad raw milk works for you and keeps you healthy! However it may carry salmonella in which case I’d rather not take that chance. Salmonella can be fatal. I’d wouldn’t take the chance with my kids. But like I said you do you and I’m glad it works for you! 😀
