What is a p-value?

A brief intro to the concept of the p-value, in the context of one-sample Z tests for the population mean. Much of the underlying logic holds for other tests as well.

Thanks for the feedback. Part of my schtick, for right or wrong, is that I go through the concepts quickly and keep the videos short. I'm sure at some points it may be tough to keep up. I'm glad you found it useful. My primary intent for making these videos is as support for my (free) text that I give my students, so my students may find these more useful than others. Thanks for the feedback! I originally started making these videos as brief reviews for my students, and in that setting I felt it was best to move along pretty quickly. In my more recent videos I've settled in on a more reasonable pace. But as you say, there's always pause and rewind.

Thanks for the feedback Georg. The fact that these videos can be paused and backed up is one of the reasons I like to go fairly quickly. But I've slowed down a little (and upped the quality) since I first started making these. (This video is one of the first ones I made.) Interpreting the p-value for tests other than a Z test on a mean? I might make a video in the future involving interpreting the p-value in a variety of tests. That sounds like a good idea actually. I made this video primarily to support my text that I give my students, and at the point in the course when it comes up, we've only discussed Z tests on one population mean. That's why I only use Z tests for one mean in this video.

The best part of these videos is how quickly you run through them. That's why there is a pause button if you miss something you can rewind or pause it. I have tried to watch other video lessons and when they are go slowly I find it a waste of time. Thank you again these videos are an essential study resource.
