What Is a P-Value?

Choosing an arbitrary level of significance is an approach that leaves plenty to be desired. Why would an analyst opt for 5%, instead of 1%? And how do they communicate the level of strength of their test at different levels of significance? Most practitioners prefer an alternative method.

The P-Value is the smallest level of significance at which the null hypothesis can be rejected. This is the most common way to test hypotheses.
