She hopped so happily when you said her name.

I had to watch a Doberman for a few days a long time ago. He slept in bed with me and would jump out of bed and rush to any sound he heard in that house. Gotta be honest, probably best night sleep I ever had. Made you feel like if something happened in that house, this dog is not only going to find it, you'll be alerted to it long before you are in any danger.

People can't fathom the amount of affection a doberman will have for their family. It’s truly remarkable. They're even better if you can socialize them a bit, too. They'll always be weary of a stranger but will treat your friends like they're their friends too. They are a lot of work, but in the end, you'll never have a better friend.

Situational awareness is key to survival and she is on point. I see why people use them for guard dogs. They look like they need a lot of good training and hard work put into owning one.

He just said the exact reasons I love these dogs. I grew up with them. They always protected me and sisters.

I got a beautiful Doberman when I was 5 years old. He was my best friend and loyal companion until the day he died, which was after I graduated from high school. I still miss him today.

I was raised with two of them. And they were the sweetest dogs I know

That very trait of Dobermans, being hyper attentive, is what saved my life. My Doberman and I were walking through our property which were some large fields with head-high grass behind our house. We'd walked there a lot on the narrow deer trails. The land was posted so no one was supposed to be there. My Doberman, Maxie, was ahead of me on the trail when she abruptly stopped and uttered a low growl. I tried to urge her on, but she kept throwing her body against my legs, trying to stop me from moving forward, and growling more loudly. Suddenly she leaped forward in the tall grass, , and I heard a loud scream. Turned out that Maxie had sunk her teeth into a man with a rifle who was hiding in the grass ahead of us. He stood up with Maxie holding onto his arm holding the gun. I had no weapon. I told the man to get the heck off my land and also told him that it was not deer season. I told him to hand over the gun and go back the way he came. At first, he acted like he'd refuse, but Maxie increased her grip in his arm, and he dropped the rifle, which I immediately picked up. I tod Maxie to "Release" as I held the gun pointed at the guy. I told him to leave and that he could come by the house later if he wanted his gun back. He turned and ran up the trail and out of sight. He never did come back for his gun. From then on, whenever I walked those trails, I carried a rifle with me.

Mine follows me or my wife like a shadow, very high energy and very eager to play all day, if u can't be firm or train your dog this is not the breed for you...But I'll tell you one thing, he keeps strangers honest and at bay just by his presence alone.

We've had two dobies in our family, absolutely some of the best dogs ever. Definitely always "on", definitely our little kids' best friends, and definitely absolute comedians, dogs with a sense of humor!

There's some truth in what he's saying here. I have a 12 month Dobermann pup and he is very much the guard dog. Always alert, watching people as they go by. He's a lot of work, but my god, what a dog. He's smart, determined, strong and fearless loving and easy to train. I don't think I'll ever get another breed, Dobies are the best.

I've met a super calming Doberman at the vet with my old dog years back. That dog walked in, lay down and was just with the owner and seemed very secure in itself. That presence calmed my dog down, who was deathly afraid of the vet and always shaking to her bones. That dog was so chill. Of course it's in the combination with a knowledgeable owner, but I immediately thought of that dog when this short came up.

We’re on our 5th and 6th Dobermans now. Even when they’re less than a year old they are amazingly obedient and caring of the family. Our first one used to sleep by our babies cribs at nap time to keep them safe. All have been great off leash and completely trustworthy.

My roommate had one in the 80s and she was the best to walk on a leash with. I would walk to the beach 1 mile away at night and always felt so safe. I watched grown men cross the street when they saw us coming 😊

I almost got attacked by a doberman on the streets once. It was late at night so the doberman was probably being overprotective of its owner. But what happened was I literally just passed by the owner and her dog while talking on the phone with my parents, and then it almost grabbed my leg with its mouth but I was luckily able to dodge it and the owner also pulled the dog away at the same time. I remember literally being in shock because that was the first time a dog came that close to attacking me. And this was also a small, young doberman. I can't imagine what would've happened if it was a big one.

I need this dog lol. Being able to walk outside feeling safe with a cute pup sounds like a win-win

We had a purebred growing up. Was probably the best family dog you could ask for. He was attached to all of us and would follow my brother and I through the woods when we were playing. Would always come running when you yelled his name no matter what.
