“provided quite well for his family” by destroying other people’s families. It’s hard to muster sympathy for someone who showed none. I have sympathy for his family, especially his kids, it’s brutal. Also, all the privileges they enjoy because of their father’s wealth is soaked in blood and sorrow. He should have done better by his human family. He’d probably still be here if he had.

I worked as a claims examiner for 7 years. I quit about 6 years ago. I still talk to my therapist about people sobbing on the phone knowing they will die because of us. It was a daily occurrence. Some evils can never be rectified. All insurance is a cancer on society. We daily had people try to find our address so they could “just come have a conversation” we had 2 bulletproof key card locked doors to get into the building. I’m surprised this hasn’t happened before.

No insurance company, healthcare, automotive, etc works for the people. Being denied coverage that you thought you had is a knife to the back. These companies don’t work for the people, only for profit. I believe we need to hold these corporations accountable.

I read a letter a doctor sent this Insurance Company because they refused to cover zofran to a 6 yr old cancer patient to help with nausea from chemo. Despicable what these insurance companies do. I’m surprised this hasn’t happened more.

Being that the assassin used bullets that had "Deny" "Defend" "Depose" engraved on the casings I believe this was a vigilante killing done by a family member of someone that was denied life saving care by the insurance company, or were terminally ill themselves and were denied care. United Healthcare has one of the highest claim denial percentages out of ALL private insurance carriers, nearly double the standard denial rate. On top of that CEO Brian Thompson had deployed a new AI system that automatically denied insurance claims and he was being sued for that as well as being investigated by the DOJ for fraud as you mentioned.

If you think about, if an insurance company is making 280 billion dollars that means its clients are losing that much to them. So something isn’t quite right with that.

I still don't understand why insurance companies of ANY type - life, home, auto, or medical - are allowed to be for-profit concerns with stockholders. At that point, it's a purely antagonistic situation of providing services to customers in the form of payouts vs. providing value to shareholders in the form of increasing stock values (usually done through increasing profits). This is unsustainable, as we are seeing more and more. I expect that within the next 20 years we're going to see both the health and homeowners insurance industries just flat out collapse and create an absolute crisis that we should prepare for, but won't.

The biggest difference between poverty and wealth is a second chance. More and more Americans are finding themselves in positions where fighting isn't an option because their resources are drained. And then these predatory companies are in a position of power where they can use their infinite time and wealth to leave regular people out in the cold. Violence begets violence, and we should not be cheering on a death, but this is just one of the many faces of the frustrations Americans are dealing with every day.
