Same! My SR5 is a 2021. Not a premium but I didn't want leather. I Struggled to find a decent used 4runner in my area for a good price. There were some but you would have had to drive out of state to pick them up which I almost did. The other thing that's good about getting an SR5 is you can make all the cosmetic changes you want with the savings. Make it your own. I changed out the grill myself, and I blacked out all the lettering. I didn't go with the KO2. I went with the falken wildpeak tires with aftermarket wheels. I know they're a mid grade tire but they look aggressive and less road noise…. Love them. Now my 4runner doesn’t look like everyone else’s.

I would be buying a 4Runner as a means to an end, to get places to go fishing and skiing and such rather than off-roading for its own sake. If 4 low and A-TRAC and KO2s can’t get me where I want to go, I probably don’t want to go there.

We have the exact same model 2014. Love it, works great for all our light off roading in the california desert. 4 Low is a beast on hill climbs at basic 100% stock.

I purchased. 23 SR5 Premium kept it a year and a half and fell in the love with the 24 TRD off road in the color underground. I traded my 23 for that one as soon as I saw it love the upgrades and the blackout trim inside and out well worth the money .

Love my 2015 SR5 Premium 4x4. Bought it in 2018 with 48k miles and immaculate service records for $26k all in. Its not at 155k miles and still running like a champ

Congratulations on the SR5 !!! I have a 2018 SR5 base 4x4 with navigation. Had to get a 4Runner not a 2Runner. But I’m sure the 2WD would be just fine for most . It’s been great, and I love it, knowing that it will last a long time !!!

i have the crawl control on my tacoma trd off-road. I am off-road 50% of the time in utah, and never used the crawl control except to try it out. Only useful part is the locking rear diff.

Yeah, solid point. Someone who isn’t going to go heavy off-roading doesn’t really need all those extra features.

nice 4runner

I got the SR5 & didn't realize how good it was for off roading, ,
I got 3rd row seating. me and girlfriend and our 4 friends weigh aver 1, 400 pounds, a 4, 200 pound travel trailer and all our gear, each has a jackery and solar, k cup coffee machines, hot plates, grills, coolers, cloths, water, water filters, hoses etc, etc, etc roof rack full.
it's under a load and it just handles it like a boss

I did the E rated 10 ply mud and snow Michelin defender 2 tire upgrade and the power stop Z37 tow break upgrade, and the bilstine 5100 adjustable shocks with 1in lift in rear, and 1 in spring lift in rear, & of course did the trd upgrades, cold air intake, radiator cap, oil cap, skid plat, gear shifter knob, , ,, the cold air intake sounds nice

man that 4runner goes, I never thought we could all load up and go camping in the national forrest or yellowstone, or just go boon docking for the weekend without all of us taking a car and wasting 3 vehicles and tanks of gas, ,, its so much more, , I was thinking a mid suzed sub I had no idea they were an off road, overland, rock climbing drop your kids off at school kind of a suv. I love it. gas mileage could be better but it does a lot of work 9mpg towing but we have got 25 on freeway on a flat stretch of interstate and he took a picture to prove it lols;
I love my SR5.

You can have DIF LOCKS installed-- they're not that expensive.. but get the ELECTRIC ones NOT the air ones. and YES_ agreed. this is what I'd need too.. I'm 67, not best of health- so sudden jolts that are common to ROUGH offroading would paralyze me-- I need one- like you- for snow- and MILD offroading (going through a wet field, or muddy dirt roads etc.).. and that's about it. THE MPG are abit better on these - Right??

How many miles were on your 4Runner when you bought it?

Just picked up the 2023 SR5. Hopefully it will work well with camping and snowboard trips

I got a used 2020 PRO, because it was the only one without rust on the lot, low miles & at a good price. Sometimes you just get what you can find.

I bought a 2022 ORP over the SR5 just to have the extra off-road capability if I need it. And I plan to keep it forever so eventually I will probably lift it and off-road more with it.

SR5 still does the job, while being more affordable!!!

I have a 2019 TRD Off Road Premium. Why didn’t you mention that?

My 2008 SR5 4RUNNER works just fine. Put new Yokohama Geolanders on her and ready for winter. My German Shepard loves the rear glass.

I upgraded from a 2012 SR5 RWD to a 2021 SR5 4X4 or 4WD. I wish it had a diff locker but it has A-Trac which is good
