Went with the 4 x 4 SR. First truck, no need for off road and dont give a hoot about towing or engine. Just carry around tools/equipment for work. Errands and soccer practice with the family. A little bumpy, but pretty ideal. Was able to whittle down a price a lil bit.

So let me get this straight. Toyota moves production of the Tacoma to Mexico to "improve efficiency and lower costs" and the price of the truck GOES WAY UP???
That makes sense....

My local dealership has 56 tacomas in stock. Only 1 is an SR 2wd and the price is... drumroll... 38k. Lowest trim barely being manufactured and being sold for $5k above msrp. Welcome to your new fiat inflation hell.

Last year a new SR5 4WD double cab with the 6’ bed was $39K. This year for the identical truck is &47K.
Last year I bought a new 23 TRD Off Road, double cab, 6’ bed with the premium and technology pkgs. The MSRP was $51, 848, (I paid $48K).
For a Tacoma identical to mine in 24 is over $67K.

Just bought a 2025 taco. Love it. My 1st truck perfect for my side mechanic business!

I got a gray SR ordered for 37k; bit expensive but it’s for family. I prefer personally the frontier for simplicity purposes. The Tacoma SR is similar to Nissan Sv and the Nissan SV is basically MSRP at 35k which is the reason I went with Tacoma.

All manufacturers went nuts with pricing, far outpacing inflation but Toyota went full insanity. 8 short years ago I bought a sr5 Tundra dbl cab trd off road with the 5.7 for 38k. Today that gets you a made in Mexico manual transmission taco with a four banger? Lmao silly!! And when will Toyota move away from these absurd end caps on their rear bumpers? Completely useless to you know, step up on when the tailgate is open.

Great review, unfortunately don't want either 😊... 38k for SR?...hmm... wait until looking at higher trims... will get even turn off with such insane price. 😊

I bought a 4x2 SR5 with minimal options as a "car you can do something with". Looked at the frontier and regardless of v6 vs 4 turbo, the Toyota is a much nicer and better made vehicle.

I have a 2014 Tacoma Access cab. I personally would not think of getting the 2024 Extra cab that has no doors to access the storage area behind the front seats. My 2024 Access cabs has doors that make it very easy to load/unload any heavy or bulky items. For me the 2024 Extra cab would not work at all. My feeling is that Toyota is not going to do well selling the new extra Cab model which is basically an Access Cab minus seats and doors and no ability to carry more than 2 persons. I have rarely had a passenger in the back seats of my Access Cab but at least I had the option of doing so when needed the few times.

You had me at Jeff!!! Thanks so much for the great video. As I drive my vehicles forever, the price differences can become negligible over 10+ years.

My 2018 tacoma will probably be my last. They priced me out.

Bought a 2025 SR 4X4. No auto start stop BS and blind spot crap was a BIG selling point.

These trucks are worth about 35 tops. Toyota has lost its mind with this pricing and also TRD Pro pricing (65k)!

In 1998 I bought my first house. It was a nice 3 bedroom, 2 bath that set on 30 acres.
We paid $55K for it. When we sold it 5 years later of course we made a profit on it.
I will Never pay more for a vehicle than I paid for my first house. Vehicles drop in value, so you loose money on it every year, whereas real estate makes you money.

It may be just me but I feel the leaf sprung 4th gen Tacomas look slightly higher than the coils spring version.

Where are the Tacomas with steel wheels? Or did Toyota cancel the steel wheels.
